Description
Here is a tutorial explaining the way I make my digital pieces.I used Photoshop CS3!
This isn't a Photoshop beginner friendly tutorial I'm afraid, it would have to be five times as long for it to be thorough enough for that! If there is a tool or word you don't understand, simply look it up on google!
You can see the final version of here:

Hello ^-^ it's always intersting to see how other artist work, so I enjoyed you're work process. But I have to mention, that the ppi does matter, also when you're not going to print it. When you're choosing your lateral dimension in Pixel, it's true, it doesnt matter. But when you're going to choose inches, as you did, it has a really high influence. For example, if you chose 17 in x 11 in with a ppi of only 1, you wold get 17x11 Pixel. And I'm really sure you would feel the difference between 5100 x 3300 pixel and 17x11
Also I found a spelling mistake in step 7 ("kee-ing" instead of "keeping") but I think I'll keep this (^^) and give you a cooky instead:
The result looks very fancy and I like your colouring technique.

How do you keep your shapes so straight, do you use a pen tool or is it free handed?

i use the pen tool for pretty much every "shape" but sometimes it is easier to freehand a selection using a stylus or mouse. I used the pen tool for everything except the grass blades and tree leaves. it was just faster to do those "u" shapes with a mouse/stylus.

The airbrush tool! I would lower and raise the opacity as needed.

This is great! May I know what Opacity and Flow percentage you used for the shading? (I usually do 50% and 15%, I'm not sure what's best.)

Thanks!! In most cases I just leave the flow at 100% and adjust the opacity as I see fit! No set numbers, I just fiddle until I get the result I want.

Very useful info - the shading you do is a different method than mine, but totally works on this piece! Great work
- Perhaps I would've wanted to know a bit more about how you made the grass and details on the firefly effects, as a notion to a possible future tutorial (:

Beautiful! You make it look so easy wahh! This is a great tutorial. I thought you have used Adobe Illustrator before I read the tutorial and realised it was Photoshop. I'm impressed at how neat and smooth your shapes are, I always struggle with that!

Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, the smooth shapes are all thanks to the pen tool! I used to use Illustrator to get the basic shapes down then bring it into photoshop, but somewhere down the line I just ended up going straight to PS haha

Yes you can! I did not learn this overnight! You just have to keep drawing every day and you will be able to do great things.
The first stages of being great at something are being not-so-great at it!
