she learned how to open her cage by watching me open another raccoon's cage... the bar had to be lifted up, twisted, and pulled across. she never tried to do it when i could see it; i just came in from walking the dogs and she was climbing on to my bed! (after leaving a little present for me on the floor to commemorate her big escape)

she looks sweet; but as soon as she was weaned, puberty began, and she'd bite you if she felt like it! never too hard... i never had her draw blood...just her mind was changing and she wanted nothing to do with her surrogate "momma coon" no more... she wanted to be indipendant and free and that's what baby wild raccoons do...

at the time i took this pic, i onloy had my boyfriend's crummy camcorder/digital camera. as you can tell, it wasn't that much of a good digital camera. come to think of it, it was a pretty crummy camcorder, too! anyways, it is one of the only pics I have of doe. she was a mean baby coonie, tooo. always liked to chew and bite... i remember how cute it was when she started to teeth... then how cute she wasn't when she nailed my foot one night as i nudged her over onto her back to rub her belly with my foot!

aaaaaawww... how come u had a racoon? btw, i know how it is, takin pics wt a digital camcorder... mine is not so bad, but its still shit compared to good digital cams...

i volounteered for a wildlife rescue & rehabilitator as an neonatal caregiver (which means i was a foster momma for raccoons, fox, squirrels, and the occasional bat.) i was with the group for almost 3 years; but when i started school again, i just didn't have the time anymore. it was alot of work, but very rewarding!
