they are adorable! and those sicky little hands! but, they make TERRIBLE pets. you see, they bond very firmly with their momma coon. she nurtures them tenderly she'll nurse sitting upright, like a human! she cleans them and teaches em' whats good to eat and what to avoid... and they follow everywhere momma goes! but, shortly after they are weaned, they become indipendent. they are going thru amazing physical and psychological changes that are ensuring them to be solitary adults... they soon begin to fight with mom and siblings... and around 9-16 months of age strike it out on their own. they are solitary by nature, unlike a dog, cat, ferret or horse. they don't need anybody else to survive... they do not need to rely on a pack or herd for shelter and safety and food. these qualities that help them survive in the wild spell doom for them in a home... they are never happy and always getting into trouble when they are pets. it's also illegal to own one in many states... they DO carry rabies and can inflict some very nasty wounds with their claws and toofies. yes! i said TOOF-IES. i love raccoons, but my love embodies a key element of all true loves-RESPECT.

Yuppers,the most horrible things to raise and release should be opossums.Trust me,I know!!! There're crazy little things.And being Nocturnal,they move around while you just wanna sleep!!! Man,whoops,off subject!^^

And toofies,that cute!^^
