Well, with my computer being quite dead at the moment, I figured I'd give painting another try (I'm posting from uni at the moment). I wanted to do some sort of cute DBZ family picture, and this is what I ended up with ^___^. I used designer's gouache (I had to buy some for my uni course) and it seemed to work remarkably well for this painting. Gouache doesn't last for a long time, but you can get very bright colours from it and it scans well; I didn't even need to do any colouration or contrast adjustments for this picture.It's just kinda nice to know that I've become able to create decent images without relying on Photoshop. Hopefully I'll get my computer working again soon, but until then I might practise a little more with gouache.
About 6-7 hours, gouache on cartrige paper

Just adorable!
Seeing Goku spend time with his wife and sons is what really made me love DBZ. I mean, the epic anime battles are awesome and all, but what really strikes me is the moments he shares with his family. That part is really often ignored and overshadowed by the punching and kicking and kamehamehas. :/
Thanks for reminding the fandom it's the quiet moments that are the foundation of the fights to begin with ^^

i wonder how long it took you to develop such technique with a real art supplies. I can never do traditional arts. i don't get the fundamental of it.
