Description
Prints available on Zazzle from $10This all started from a pose reference that I liked (from here, anatomical image warning*, [link] ). Looking at the pose, I came up with the concept and basic story to work with it. Hopefully the elements in the painting will tell it for me.
My other aim was to attempt a more old-fashioned painting style, to give the picture a feel that's unusual for science fiction paintings.
*as opposed to lack of clothing, this is lack of skin. It's a very useful website; shame it's not updating any more.

Is it ok if I use the broken robot as a reference? A very similar situation happened in an RP i used to be in, and the angle and busted up robot and what not... may I? lol

I really like the colors on this, there very atmospheric and 'artistic'. I confused this for a historical piece at first but on a second glance noticed that was a robot and not armor. I'm blind I know.

It's a little expensive, but it helps... and if you already have Cs3 and an intuos 3 tablet, I don't think you'll have a problem saving up for it.

Pretty close, you've certainly gotten more of the story elements than most people picked up.
I might pick up poser some day, but the main reason I was using posemaniacs was for picture ideas, rather than direct reference.

"Is it just me, or does the robot look a little like a Terminator?"
Naw...the Terminator was much bigger...and wasn't made of brass, and it's armor wasn't quite as thick looking. This robot looks more like the Iron Giant, you know? And I'm thinking these characters' backstory was somewhat like the Iron Giant, only the ending /probably/ wasn't as happy...XD Anyway, epic work, dude. I love the colors.

This reminds me a little of the movie Castle in the Sky, or at least the Robot does. Probably the flowers are helping with that imagery in my head as well.

i think there more like comrads in arms.
if you see around her neck is a military dog tag, a second dog tag can be seen on the smaller rock next to the one shes sitting on
its possable they were in the military together, and the robot died in combat. rather than having him dissmantled for scrap, she left his body ware it had gone offline, in honor of his memory. possable shes viseting him as a way to thank him for giving his life to save hers
but this, in it self, is all speculation on my part.

This is sad in a very reverent and serene way... maybe the robot fell apart for a good cause, to save the girl's life. Either way I love the colors.

I really like this concept. Sort of a post-apocalyptic/sci-fi theme mixed with old soldier friendships. It just all comes together really well.

When I first saw this I thought it was gorgeous, It also immediately made me think of Chrono Trigger when the group finds Robo in modern day after he restores the forests.
