Description
Prints available on Zazzle from $10This all started from a pose reference that I liked (from here, anatomical image warning*, [link] ). Looking at the pose, I came up with the concept and basic story to work with it. Hopefully the elements in the painting will tell it for me.
My other aim was to attempt a more old-fashioned painting style, to give the picture a feel that's unusual for science fiction paintings.
*as opposed to lack of clothing, this is lack of skin. It's a very useful website; shame it's not updating any more.

While it is different from science fiction style of paintings it actually sort of reminds me of Ghibli Studio's Laputa: Castle in the Sky and the style they use.
But it's probably just because of the robot or something. xD

Yes! Thats exactly what I was thinking. That it looked like one of those robots from Laputa. Especially the way its only hand looks like its holding onto a flower. Very soft and precious appearing. And respectful.
Its a beautiful picture.

You always have such amazing pieces. I greatly admire your patience and skills. The colours in this blend wonderfully, and I love the little details like the dog tags, the light reflecting the colours onto the white shirt, and the liveliness of the flowers.

Reading that you wanted this picture to have a feel that is unusual for Scinece Fiction Paintings reminded me of the setting of the Science Fiction manga called "Time Stranger Kyoko" by Arina Tanemura. (Because it has a fantasy like setting with old, antique looking desings.)
Anyway, it's bueatiful! ^ ^

Kinda sweet and sad.

Outstanding! I always enjoy seeing a serious treatment of sci-fi, rather than the "pop pulp" look. You did an excellent job - both in technique and in capturing the emotion. Faved!

Thats looks awesome.
I love the greens you gave going here it gives a sence of freash new life to a once ravaged battle feild. You pulled off the android rather well how ever it sort of seems as if the body was made of rock or seems it was rock that distroyed it and its still there. I saw the modle that you use to get the pose for the woman and that was great recreation so my hats of to you. So the point im getting to is that it looks like you put a great deal of effort into it and its really paid off for you.
Well done

Lovely picture. Very nice colours and sense of light and shadow.
The robot reminds me of a Warforged from Dungeons and Dragons, a sentient construct with a soul.

you succeeded really well with the mood-thing,
I think I like a true fantasy-mood better though, this is more real-world-like and I prefer the mysterious mood.
but the colors in this are truly amazing, is there a story behind this character? I'd really like to know it.
