This all started from a pose reference that I liked (from here, anatomical image warning*, [link] ). Looking at the pose, I came up with the concept and basic story to work with it. Hopefully the elements in the painting will tell it for me.

My other aim was to attempt a more old-fashioned painting style, to give the picture a feel that's unusual for science fiction paintings.

*as opposed to lack of clothing, this is lack of skin. It's a very useful website; shame it's not updating any more.
