Description
Sneak preview of a project I have underway...I'm going all-out for accuracy and quality (and I mean all-out). Case in point - this book's a copy of the same 135-year-old book Cyan used. Yes, it's 135 years old and in that condition.
You have no idea how difficult they were to find.
EDIT: Project is complete! If you think just this looks amazing, check out what's inside .

I hope to have it with me at a future Mysterium, if you happen to attend that one! Otherwise it might be a bit of a long plane flight just for a book, given I'm in Australia

iPhone's screen is way too small; it doesn't look right as the linking image. Plus the resolution is less than the original too!

Okay, that is pretty awesome.
Now, out of curiosity, just what book did they/you use?

Thanks! But as I said to other people, sorry but I'd rather not say the book's identity just yet... I've spent I think seven years searching and obtaining every copy of the book that I could find, hunting more places than you'd think. I'd like to keep it secret until I'm done so I don't end up fighting other fans.

Right now? No. It's still in construction.
Once I'm done? Define "work"...

o: Now all you need is a star fissure and some stranger to find it xD
And a library of burnt books >.>

omg, that's amazing!!! I love it! It makes me all tingly inside to see it. Great work!! How did you emboss MYST on it??
Also, what's the title/author of the original book?
I'm very fascinated by this!

Embossing was done with making metal stamping plates of the individual letters, the same technique used professionally on books/cards/etc.
And sorry, but I'd rather not say the book's identity just yet... I've spent I think seven years searching and obtaining every copy of the book that I could find, hunting more places than you'd think. I'd like to keep it secret until I'm done so I don't end up fighting other fans.

So you mean, you bought lots of copies of this mystery book so that other fans wouldn't go buy it and make their own myst book?
Amazing work by the way! Can't wait to see more.

No, because I need more than one copy. Yes really And because the only way to tell if it's the exact same book is by comparing minor differences in the book's construction, which you can only tell after you've already bought it. A photo doesn't quite cut it.

Cool, so why do you need more then one copy? Tell me you're making a room full of Myst linking books?

For parts, and because sometimes I screw up. I don't want this project's quality compromised by something as silly as me making an error.
