Description

Imaginary Godzilla the Series episode

When various newspapers and news sites report Godzilla attacking cattle ranches throughout Texas, the H.E.A.T. team comes to his defense, as Godzilla has been in New York waters the entire time. Taking a trip to the Lone Star State, the team and Godzilla discover the real culprit; a giant mutated collared lizard named Gorosaurus with an appetite for beef.

Subplot: Randy and Monique accidentally sell N.I.G.E.L. the robot at a police auction and have to get it back before anyone realizes it’s missing.

May I have permission to draw this creature?

He looks much smaller than Zilla Junior. He'd get his ass kicked the moment they meet!

Poor N.I.G.E.L., he was this series' Kenny McCormick/Waspinator. Also, hated the '98 movie, loved the show.

He felt to me more like the barely on screen version of Jar Jar Binks

I'm sure this would've been perceived as heresy were it real (at least if they kept the name), but I actually like this a lot. It's a really fun, colorful design, and you hit the nail on the head with your brief little summary of what the episode would be like. I never really thought about it till now, but it's kind of a shame more monsters like this didn't exist. We saw from Komodothrax that (some) lizards just naturally seem to turn into Zillas when they mutate, so it would've been cool to see some more variants on the idea with different species and abilities. Could've been a more interesting approach to the doppleganger tradition, I think.

A small detail that interests me is that the American Godzilla didn't develop a breath attack until a generation later. Makes me wonder if the mutation process advances by generation, starting with a marine iguana and subsequent offspring developing traits such as bipedalism, larger size, a taste for fish, asexual reproduction, etc, eventually culminating in the Godzilla from the 1998 movie.
