Description
This was made due to popular demand on phantomoftheopera.com. My version of Erik unmasked. It combines the facial deformations of Michael Crawford, with the eyes and noseless-ness of Erik as described in Leroux's novel, and Gerard Butler as well. My poto.com (where I am known as NoOneWouldListen/NOWL) signature is along the bottom edge.Update: Here are my other Lerik-Gerik pictures on dA.

In his own way he looks kind of cute. It's something about that smile I think

I've had plans for how it would all play out if I could direct a film for the musical instead of Joel Schumacher (who brought us such classics as Batman & Robin). He would be a mix of this: www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&…
and other things.
His mask would be the musical half mask but would completely cover his nose. You would be able to see parts of his deformity at the edges of the mask (like on stage). He would of course wear a wig. He would have no nose. He would wear gloves and makeup on the left side of his face. During "Have you gorged yourself at last in your lust for blood" it would show his gloves off and him removing the makeup from the left side. The left side wouldn't be shaped different than a normal person's face (since it's only makeup covering it) but it would be leprous and look like rotting flesh. And his hands would be like a corpse's as well.

Those eyes are so adorable. I just wanna hug him and tell him he's worthy of love and that God loves him. You can see the pleading in his eyes. T-T
P.S. Love what you did here.

fun fact this is actually kind of what they had planned for the deformity but they didn't have enough money

For the stage show not the movie

Oh
Yeah, they originally wanted a full face deformity but they realized the problems it would cause with singing/acting. Lots of people think it was the mask that would've affected the singing but it was actually the make up.

They really should have made him look like this in the movie. The fact that he wasn't properly deformed ruined the whole story, and just made the phantom look like a whiny little bitch.

As far as makeup goes, that would've been very hard to pull off.

Ideally, they would have incorporated CGI, as they did with Voldemort in the Harry Potter films.

THIS IS AMAZING. If he actually had a legit disfigurement on his face rather than some sunburn-looking thing, I may have been able to take the movie more seriously. XD

Now THIS makeup, and I would have liked the 2004 version (I still can't get passed their bad voices). But wow! That actually makes him look ugly. THAT would have scared people. Not a freakin' rash. Awesome makeup retouching!

I like this a lot and it's both an original and believable while still interesting deformity. Well, believable as Erik goes.
I like it.

Awesome. I love the nose. Somehow, I can't find it in me to find this picture repulsive in any way. Just look at his eyes!...he's adorable.

This actually makes me happy. Although Crawford's Phantom is absolutely phenomenal (I despise Butler's,) the skeletal, shrunken look was what Leroux intended for his readers to imagine Erik. Well done indeed.

Oooh, very very good! If his deformity had looked like this in the movie it would have been so much more believable! Maybe they didn't want it to be too scary so audiences wouldn't like him, but they should have figured that Erik fans will think he's beautiful no matter what. Well, what's done is done. But this is amazing, he looks so much more like the Erik I see in my head! Kudos!

His face looked like this in the book written by Gaston Leroux. I think I have seen the film in which his face was black and red. Was it this one? [link]

After long debating I'm finally faving this. I think this is wonderful picture you've made and certainly appeals to me, as I'm one of those who don't have anything else against Gerry but his lack of make-up. So wonderful work and sorry I haven't done this earlier.
Also with the special and make-up effects we have nowadays, we could easily how Erik like that.

Wow, if he acctually looked like that when Christine unmasked him I almost don't blame her for freaking out and almost screaming....GYUH! I mean WOW. Now THAT'S a deformity that would have inspired the horror that was described in the litterary art. wow...yeah I'm a phangirl and even I would be like ...oh my...GOD! After the initial shock I'd be crying so hard for him...and I probably would ask him if it hurt.

Call me crazy, but I like the unusual, like cats with 6 toes or having eyes that are 2 different colors or even (in geriks case) a big sun burn-o-doom across your face. I might just like 'weird'...

Perfect! THIS is the Phantom! And whom Christine actually kissed at the end of the story. Though I appreciate Gerard Butler in the movie, he should have been made to look this way. And maybe he could have shown some of his 300-pack too.

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! Scary!!! But...because it's Gerard Butler...some tiny shred of him is sexy...but mostly SCARY. Unnerving. Downright creepy. I want to, like, run and find a Raoul lookalike to console me.
Awesome work, by the way. Wish I could photo edit like that...
