Description
The cat—that damned cat— eventually deserted Christine and became positively devoted to Charles. It took to sleeping on his bed when he was about two years old, a practise that I did absolutely nothing to discourage, in spite of Nanny’s indignant protests about fleas. […]They belonged together, in a strange way, did they not?
The cat…and the cuckoo…in one nest!
-Raoul
Susan Kay's ' Phantom ', page 449

Aww! I love this! It's great so enchanting the way the empty space complements the sleeping child and woman in the door way. Great use of color as well. Nice job

Beautiful. I really like your painting style; the fact that strokes are visible in some areas just contributes to the movement in the piece. I love Christine here; she looks absolutely at peace with herself and the world. We all know that The Proud Father is watching from above, too!

Thanks! I always appreciate it when people actually comment, rather than just saying something like 'OMG SO GREAT!'.
I really wanted a peaceful look for the picture. Which is why I had to repaint Christine's face about four times.
Also, thanks very much for the favourite!

I agree; constructive comments always help.
Constructive, of course, not referring to sentences consisting of "OMG liek I lurve your art it is awesome lawl." Those are still nice, too, I suppose.
Her face looks really good; you've done them justice! Especially since acrylics can be extremely difficult to paint with. They dry so quickly!

Love it! Especially your version of older Christine, with the rose in her hand and her expression to Charles and Ayesha. Really this is so great.
Don't you just love that little twist in the end of Susan Kay's book? Wonder if Leroux ever considered it...

I'm not sure if the twist would have quite worked with Leroux's book, but there was supposedly going to be a sequel (written by Leroux) in which Erik hadn't died. So, you never know.
Thanks!

Yeah, most of the art I've seen recently has been made on a computer.
Thanks!
