Description
Finally left alone, the Sergeant dropped his guard; all his proudly built walls breaking apart slowly. He hadn’t let himself think about it in front of his wife, nor in front of the boys he owed his life too. He didn’t want them to see him so weak and vulnerable.
His head bowed forward, his teeth clenched as every worry he had kept buried for the past few days attacked him one by one. All the things he’d never be able to enjoy…seeing his loved ones smile, watching his newborn grow up, seeing his wife’s face when she first sees her child.
He joked about losing his sight, he laughed and he brushed it aside as nothing…but inside it was slowly scratching at his heart. It was becoming unbearable, more painful then the bullets in his arm, more painful then the constant headache.

He’d never see his baby boy.
