It's the final boss of the franchise? I expected something like dark samus.
Samus never gets a break. does she.

Dark Samus does deserve some more appearances. She was never explicitly stated to be gone, so... yeah.

I always liked dark samus. the most interesting "Dark" version of a Nintendo character, in my opinion.

Same here. I vastly prefer her over the more popular SA-X, which is just barely a dark counterpart, only because of its supposed lack of compassion, which I don't put much stock in considering one gave its life so Samus could kill the Omega Metroid. Kind of implies the ability to reason, doesn't it?
Plus, the SA-X was annoying as hell, not scary at all.
Anyway, I definitely feel Dark Samus is many times scarier than the SA-X, if only because of what Prime 3 implies she can do as well as her being the most powerful entity in the history of Metroid. I mean, if she nearly decimated the GF so easily, what chance would the rest of the universe stand? I don't think even the Chozo or Luminoth could have stood up to Dark Samus at her full power. I mean, in Prime 2, she absolutely destroyed three Dark Pirate Troopers with what seemed to be nothing more than a wave of a hand for her.
Yeah, I'm a Dark Samus fanboy. XD

I never said she did, I was stating that I found Dark Samus to be a far superior Metroid villain than the SA-X.

SA-X had the potential to be the most deadly force in the entire universe just for it's abilities alone, the X were the reason Metroid's were even created in the first place as X's only Natural predator. Β X is a species, so are the Metroid's. Dark Samus is a single super natural entity that's very existence depended on the living matter Phazon, no phazon, no Dark Samus.Β
That said, if Fusion was redone with the Prime style of game play\story telling methods, SA-X would be a much more terrifying presence and a more terrifying force to deal with when encountered, cause it's hunting you, and you can't fight back till near the end, where as Samus is roughly on equal footing with Dark Samus, Dark Samus only having the Phazon advantage over Samus for most of the encounters and Samus usually is victor in their battles with Dark Samus fleeing to absorb more phazon. SA-X doesn't flee from Samus in any but the final encounter and will relentlessly pursue her any chance it gets otherwise. Β
Simply put:
Samus Hunt's Dark Samus.
SA-X Hunts Samus.

Well, Samus was lucky to have the PED for Dark Samus. As shown in the beginning of Prime 3, Dark Samus was far more powerful than Samus and nearly killed her with a single attack. Even with the PED, it took a lot to take her down, which says a lot about how powerful Dark Samus is. She's far more powerful than the SA-X, as Dark Samus is held to be the most powerful villain Samus has ever faced. And even then the only reason Samus managed to succeed against her is because Dark Samus made a mistake when she fused with the AU, and its death caused Phaaze to die. And when Phaaze was destroyed, Phazon went with it, leaving Dark Samus with no way to come back. I'm quite sure that had Dark Samus simply "died" there, she'd have come back yet again for another attempt. Hell, even now it's not clear if she's gone for good. The SA-X, however, is confirmed to be annihilated since it's shown no ability to return from that kind of force, while Dark Samus has by returning after Prime 2, when Dark Aether's dimension collapsed entirely with her remains inside.
If Dark Samus could find another source of sustenance, it's likely she could return. Not to mention in Prime 3 you're not even actively hunting Dark Samus, but defending against her assault before moving in on Phaaze for the final blow. All in all, were it not for the PED and Samus's innate resistance to Phazon (built up from her past experience with it on Tallon IV and Dark Aether), which exploits her one weakness (Phazon), Dark Samus would have certainly triumphed. Without the resistance, she would have succumbed to corruption like the other Hunters. Without the PED she couldn't lay a finger on Dark Samus since Phazon is Dark Samus's only weakness when she's fully stable, like in Prime 3.
So you would be right when referring to Prime 2, where Dark Samus was newly reborn from Metroid Prime's essence and, thus, much weaker. But in Prime 3 she needed the aid of the Federation to destroy Dark Samus.

Β I always thought its scream wasn't quite as imposing as it's appearance, it should've had a deeper roar than high pitched cat screeches, it would've made it more intimidating given that it is supposed to be the most powerful form a metroid can naturally become without being a queen...

I liked the cry because it was unexpected, since the Metroids really aren't a traditional "Rawr" monster. I actually felt bad for it, which may be a point they were going for since that is likely the last Metroid, and the game's plot revolved around the grim mistake that wiping them out was.
