Description I haven't posted anything in a while, largely because I have nothing new to post. I've dropped about $9000 on a new car in the hopes of having some reliable transportation so that I can go out and get some photography done, but wouldn't you know it, the car needs about $2000 in repairs, so... yeah. No budget for gas to actually go anywhere now.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get it sorted out, but in the meantime, here's an older shot that I took back in 2011 of the female jaguar at the San Antonio Zoo. You may recognize this as being similar to my current featured submission, and that's because it was taken in the same series of photos. Since my 300mm was the only lens I had that could effectively shoot through the fencing, I tried taking multiple-shot series and stitching them together. Worked out fairly well overall.

Thanks. It was a little more experimental than most of my photos since I ended up stitching multiple pictures together, but it really did come out nicely. Glad you like it.

Thanks. I've honestly been surprised by the reaction it has gotten. Apparently I am a terrible judge of how good or bad my photos are.

Damn, good luck with the car!  So inconvenient not to have them, but also the source of so many inconveniences themselves :b

Anyway, lovely shot!  I love how cats tend to look so flat/thin lying on their sides (particularly cheetahs - they DO almost seem to disappear when they turn sideways :b)

Haha thanks. I figure if this is the only major problem it has, I'll survive. Glad you like the photo. Cheetahs are definitely the flattest cats when they lay down. It's almost disturbing. Snow leopards are the best at disappearing though. There used to be snow leopards in this exhibit several years back, and when they would lay down, I swear they just melted away into the rocks. It was incredible.

lol, it's true, it really is kinda disturbing, haha.  I remember going through one of those drive-through animal reserves, and there was a bunch of cars parked with people taking photos, and it took us a while to see what they were looking at: there were two cheetahs nearby in the shade, lying on their sides, practically invisible :b

I haven't had the fortune of seeing snow leopards in real life yet

Thanks. It was a pretty slow shutter speed too, so I  was really pleased with how sharp these photos came out. Although, looking at this in the small view, it looks too sharp. Full view looks better, but small view is almost pixellated it's so sharp. Hmm...

But don't worry, you should never judge a picture by the smaller version of it. I think it's pretty good... specially with such a slow shutter, I'm a terrible steady photographer...
