it looks so vibrant for water color My water colors always seem to have a muted look to them.

Mine always are too, but I keep layering and layering the colors to get them bolder. Plus I use the cheaper grade COTMAN colors which do not have as much pigment. After the holidays I am going to go out and pick up some of the Windsor Newton Artists's Grade watercolors which have a lot more pigment.
Another thing that might affect the colors is that they are scanned into photoshop and I think when they become digital, the color amps up a bit, but I try to adjust so they are as accurate as I can get them. thanks for the nice comment!!

do you think there is a big difference between brans I use the cotman myself but I have one tube of the windsor newton artist grade for my skin tones. Got it cause I wasn't getting the results I wanted ya know. it applys alot smoother it seems.
Anyway I love your work and I am trying to learn more about medium and so forth so I can work traditionally. I like digital medium but it takes so much longer and it is so slick and shiny sometimes that I get annoyed. yet for some reason that is what everyone wants to see.
That and you don't actually ever have an original cause the original is the actual file. I think digital is great in its own right but for me I feel like it is best used for production work and not necessarily art ya know.
I don't know many people think differently.

You know...I am not sure...I have never used the artist grade....it will be interesting to find out...
thanks so much, glad you like my stuff. you are so nice!! I like having an actual original piece too. I love digital, and the easiness of editing...but I work on a computer all day, and its nice to go home and paint the old fashioned way!!

I really love the way you color with watercolors! It's amazing! Do you ink your drawings or use a pencil outline?

She is doing good. She has been pretty good the past few days. There have been some tricky nights. She is a sweet baby though...How are your Christmas gifts coming along?

LOL! I haven't really touched my Christmas gifts yet, because of finals.
I just finished today though, so I get to start working on them again! I love Christmas illustrations, they are very warm.

I jsut started my mom's Nativity pieces last night and my annual gross/offensive/juvenile ornament from my brother-in-law. I love seeing his face when he opens them. Funny!

I want to see them! They sound cool. I liked your idea for the Nativity set. I going to start with baby Jesus and a baby lamb. What did you first give her, and cant I see it? I know it will be beautiful.

RobbVision In reply to Kahiah [2007-12-15 13:43:35 +0000 UTC]
COOL! I'm actually making two angles to represent my daughter and my brother's daughter who was born in June. they will be two little girls dressed in white robes...no wings. Pretty simple.
the first pieces I started back in 2000 was Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. I am not very religious, but I love the whole story of the Nativity scene and look of it.

Will you post pics of the previous sculptures that you did for the nativity scene? I would love to see it, and I know it is great!
