Thanks! I have plans to build a much larger and more complex ship in the coming year.

I knew it! (of course after reading some comments haha)
Is that really a model? what a serious one so ;la:
AMAZING work you did, mainly with the illumination of the scene

Thanks for the comment!
You are right, in that the lighting is really key in making these shots work.
I'm trying to make another two ships like this one, each being somewhat bigger.

I always thaught the ship from Sunshine 2001 would be a great model with the mirrored panels and all, this is cool

This is a tremendously cool ship design
Around what era did you imagine this being in service?

Well, if you'd asked me that around 1975, I'd have said, "obviously, 2001"!
Now, I don't really know!
I think we could do it in the next 30 years, with the advent of plasma drives, and some kind of rad shielding.
The sooner the better!
Thanks for looking,
Robert.

I like this. Very believable. This looks like a ship that could actually be built.

Thanks! The inspiration is of course the Discovery from 2001. So the basic idea is of a bunch of modules, which would function as engines, fuel storage, consumables, centrifuge/habitat, and so on.

Thanks, it take more time to get things matched up than the actual photography!

I'm not sure what Blender is.
I can only surmise it's a cg program?
All my stuff is physical models!Β
Sometimes the detail is too detailed for my liking.
Shows the flaws if you look closely.
Thanks for looking!
Robert.

Okay, that went completely over my head. No idea who Quigley is, or what the bits box is? A brain? I have none, obviously!
Lol!

You know, that box with all the spare kit bashing model kit parts.
We've all got one, go on admit it!
haha.
Really love the look of your work, being such a good photg.
really gives you the old school street cred.
Keep em' coming.

Ha! You got me! I remember a saying from one of the original visual effects houses, when they built a spaceship, they would say "dip it in glue, and roll it in model mulch".
That's a bit much for my liking, most of this ship is pretty specific stuff, but the essentials are pretty much what you described.
Will try to keep them coming, but it's a lot of work.
Thanks
Robert

Yeah, I know about the amount of work that goes in.
Was never able to photograph my own stuff as well as you.
It really does add an extra layer of Martin Bower awesomeness.
I really enjoy what you do.
