And here's the back cover copy to give you the flavor of the tale:Best friends Chachel and Glint, a merson and a cuttlefish, are returning from a shark hunt when they stumble upon an unconscious female βemon.β Taking her back to their reef community to recover while they decide what to do with her, they also discover aunique friendship, one which will change their lives and community as the reef dwellers and the demon fight together to save their way of life against terrible enemies and their blue magic.

When I read the concept for ADF's book I was already getting super pumped since it sounded like the classic sf/fantasy adventures I grew up reading from him.Β Then he slips in an email that the cover was being done by Rob Caswell and I was like "No way!"Β
Excellent cover.Β I've bought the digital edition and will read it over this weekend.

Oh yes... that was paramount! Β Actually in my first version she had a bathing suit (which is in the text), but the author and publisher wanted me to spice it up a bit more, so..... it's laundry day, apparently

yeah....even in fantasy worlds laundry has to be done
(nice imagination )

Well Iβm mostly in Hard SF. Might surprise you though, of course Iβve read Tolkien, Le Guin, Zalaznyβs Nine Princes In Amber. Lord of Light might be considered a sci-fi fantasy of sorts. I think Samuel R. Delany is probably one of the finest cross genera authors of our time. Triton and Dhalgren are sort of mirror reflections of one another. And at one time these, along with Heavy Metal magazine, influenced my work. Back in the eighties and early nineties I was connected with an art agent who had contracts to put art in all the big Chicago nightclubs β¦ I was doing large acrylic on canvas paintings at the time, and my style was sort of cyberpunk mixed with all of the above.

I haven't posted any photos of the paintings, I am considering putting up a sub-gallery folder with scans of my sketches and drawings, so perhaps that's an idea I might explore.

You could put it in your scraps folder, if you didn't want to clutter up the near future aerospace selection?
