Thanks! I think it's the colors that pushed it into Daily Deviation territory.

I was going to add this to my favorites, but on looking at the number of people who had , I found that I just didn't have the heart to spoil such perfection.

Glorious. A spaceship that looks like it was built for a purpose.

at first this reminded me of Serenity.

Mm. I can sorta see that.
By design it's certainly closer to Prometheus.

Congrats on the DD! Love the fact that the planet is so large in this pic as it seems to enhance the drama- feels like something is about to happen.

Planets are BIG.... so yeah, I'm with you. There's great visual power and scale when you're able to really let them dominate the composition.

You make it look really good, I purchased the colony lander too, and I got really mad it was low poly after, and to top that, the windows on the front are not a single material

RobCaswell In reply to vatorx [2014-03-05 18:00:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the model has some limits, but I've found a lot of the issues can be improved with some personal texture tweaking. Are you using DS or Poser?
π: 0 β©: 1
RobCaswell In reply to vatorx [2014-03-07 20:42:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, those models are optimized for Poser so to really make 'em sing in DS you need to do a bit of materials tweaking. Nothing too daunting, though. Things like applying all the illumination maps by hand and such.

I do that kind of adjusting, I load all the bumps, ambient light, specular, displacement, etc. but I just dislike the low poly stuff

RobCaswell In reply to vatorx [2014-03-11 19:24:03 +0000 UTC]
I think his bigger issue is the low res maps. He needs to make his textures larger.

I was working on a similar render using this model. After seeing this, though, I'll probably just through my hands up in despair. Β A must fave.

Okay, I'll give it a shot. A question though, if I may; did you have trouble with the material settings? The ship looks strangely bright and plastic in my draft renders, despite my efforts to alter settings and lighting conditions.Β

RobCaswell In reply to LatinVimes [2014-01-03 19:53:40 +0000 UTC]
Well it loads with Ambients set to white and cranked to 100%.... but it DOESN'T load the luminance maps that are supposed to be regulating them. Did you notice this... and have you loaded the lum maps? That's the only real funky thing I encountered and it's true for all Shawnaloroc's models that I've bought.

LatinVimes In reply to RobCaswell [2014-01-03 20:38:54 +0000 UTC]
Got it. I did notice the ambients but did try to alter them, messing about with how the surfaces react to light instead. I did not notice the lack of lum maps. I'll have another go. Thanks for the heads up, and I appreciate you taking the time.
