I can't even remember how many quarters I went through to finally get to where I could get through on just one.
I played on an old arcade machine a couple of years ago and the pattern seemed to still be stuck in my brain.

I sort of wish that type of game would have caught on.
They just looked so darn cool.
I know there was Space Ace but I've never seen any other game like those.

I don't think there has been any other game in that style. Based on traditional animation from what I recall. I do remember one other arcade game like that. I do not remember what it was called. The animation was much less cartoony and I think it might even have been a Japanese style antasy adventure.
One thing I actually do remember though. The game was so long that it took 2 of the old large laser disks and all the arcades here in Tx. had only gotten the first half of the set. By the time the second half got sent out it was at least a year later. Most arcades had already sent back the originals and changed the case to another game.
OOOH! I just remembered another one!
Cliff Hanger!!

The Lupin game was produced by Ghibli, so it features Miyazaki animation ^^ would love to see an HD release.
