Description [I edited the text a bit since, there where small misunderstandings about what the pic is about]

Sorry for coming up with this again, but I am a bit confused.
Not really want to offend anyone, just quickly did something that came into my mind lately. Sad part is, that I really don't see the point why I have to repeat myself over and over again, because there are a few Hellsing fans who only think they know this two characters better than their own creator, Kouta Hirano.

My fancomic supports the original manga, and Hirano's work, his characters with their personality. In the manga, nothing romantical is happening between these two, and neither will in my fancomic. Even Hirano confirmed that their relationship is not romantical, and now I'm reaching my point ->

There is no problem about writing fanfics and pictures about these two getting together. If you like it, do it! Fanfictions are about that. I am not a big Anti-SerasxAlucard, there are fanfictions that I really like. But it's not canon, and I hate when a rabid fan starts to harass me about it, that it's canon and it's happening, and I'm not a real fan if I don't see it.

I've read the manga like 500 times, watched every OVA like 100 times. I think I understand the characters, their personalities and the meaning of their presence in the story enough to tell, that there is ABSOLUTLY NOTHING SEXUAL between the Master and his fledgling. I'm a hellsing fan, and not a fan of a made up pairing. But that doesn't make me the enemy of that pairing, there can be amazing, lovely, nice stories made of these two, BUT don't tell me that you are 100% sure that this is going to happen, because it's fanfiction, and every fan has his right to belive what they think is going to happen.

If you want me to respect your viewpoint, you also have to respect mine. It's nothing bad being an AxS fan. But please accept it that it is not more than a fanpairing. I have enough of it that some crazy bastards try to disfigure every scene in Hellsing where these two are talking to each other.

*sigh*

Hm, well I sure have to try to get Bram Stoker's again ... pretty hard with all those fakings around these days X_X.

Though, human traits are pride, sadness and anger XD.
So he is not dead on the inside, like ghouls are.

I agree with you. Seras doesn't have what it takes to be Alucard's lover, she's just more of a daughter to him, someone who needs guidance and training, not sex.
Besides, Alucard would totally go for a Romanian girl, he's patriotic like that XD

I think that Alucard and Seras are supposed to have more of a, like, father/daughter relationship. I mean, of course you seen the latest OVA, they were so darn cute! He looked proud, like a father. *nods*

I don't get what you are trying to say in the picture, though. :I

Exaxtly my thoughts! He was patting her head so proudly it was just so cute, I had to replay it like 20 times!

Some AlucardxSeras fans belive that Seras slept in Alucard's coffin, and they belive that this is a hint to "they must be lovers!" or something. And some of these AxS fans created a poster about it. I just pointed out to the fact that Alucard's coffin has golden edge. So Seras wasn't sleeping in his coffin. When I told this to the creator of the poster, I got blocked.

I have to say that AxI fans are WAY worse than AxS fans. AxS fans are only hinting (like the picture) that it is in some way they are close (other than father/daughter relationship). AxI fans are SURE that they are together. Only because of The TV show (that was not even made โ€‹โ€‹by Hirano but a friend of him) and wrong translation where Alucard had called her countess but in japan he had only called her count as in respect. And the master/servant thing. Hirano had said himself that it is ONLY a master/servant relationship.

Of course that is only my opinion, and we can understand these characters different way.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

RobertFiddler In reply to woviletta [2012-02-05 15:34:57 +0000 UTC]

Well... Hirano called IxA "sick love" and he draws them together quite often. But of course not that way! It's true that they never will end up together.
Alucard fanatically respects Integra but that's all. A vampire like him is dead outside and inside, so he is not able to feel human emotions like "love". On the other hand, If they would only make "hints" about SxA... Have you seen any Seras x Alucard artworks or fanfics lately? They... most of them picture seras either as a lover or a sexslave. I think that is far worse than any IxA artworks. If you mention the TV series, I try to ignore that thing. Both pairings are based on that thing, simply because it pictures Alucard more human than in the manga or in the OVA (thanks to Hirano's friend). He is too friendly with Seras and too soft with Integra, Seras is too whiny, and Integra too rude to her like Seras were a rival love. The TV series is totally messed up with this "love triangle". In manga, nothing happens between Alucard and Seras, but Alucard's fanatical respect towards Integra is there, so also IxA is based on the manga, not just on the TV series, even if it doesn't happen, and probably will not happen.

Its fanboys/girls, there will always be a minority of them who think it should be done the way they want.
And from some fanfics ive come across, im glad they dont get what they want, as bleach for one would turn into a massive male orgy under some peopels control...
Oh and the mlp fans are up in arms about a nod to them by the creators been just that, a nod, not what some imagined as a fan based show but the nod was to people outside the group the shows aimed at so meh.
And as for hellsing, personally i dont see any real pairing in it, but then as ive seen in other fandoms/fanfics, people will create a pairing where there isnt one...
Including ones that make no sense what so ever :S

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RobertFiddler In reply to Dickywebster [2012-02-05 15:13:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but I also have seen that most of fans are avere of it that the pairing they support doesn't make much sense, they just do it because it's cute or cool or simply sexy. The bad part here is that some of the AxS fans are deadly convinced about it that this pairing makes perfect sense and it must be the way Hirano would do it. That is so wrong. Seras is the heroine of Hellsing and Alucard is the "hero". The hero and the heroine ending up together is cliche, that's way most of the modern artists try to avoid it. Hirano is not an exception.

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-03 08:36:10 +0000 UTC]

Seras is the heroine of Hellsing? HAHAHAH. That's how Integra is described as heroine in the character presentation and is always listed second to Alucard (for example in the official guide to Hellsing published by YKO).

I mean c'mon. Ship what you want, but Seras is the heroine? /snicker/

Hy Thess! Long haven't seen you.
Hmm, it's not like you to laugh on someone's opinion like that. You must be in bad mood

Yes, I think Seras is a very important character in Hellsing. A heroine. Doesn't mean Integra isn't one, I haven't seen any rule in literature that would say there can't be more than one. I just say, that Seras a great importance in representing the fight between humanity and monsters. Alucard is a true monster, Integra is the true human, and Seras is the one that is in the middle of an inner conflict. She is human in heart but is expected by her master to act like a monster. She is the only person that goes through a clear character development, which really makes her something like a main figure in the story telling and the lesson of the manga. But I have already explained my point of view about that, here: [link] If you would read it and tell me your opinion, I would be more than happy

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-03 18:54:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I mean the reasoning of heroine+hero stuff by the shippers. I'm not in a bad mood. I'm lifting m eyebrow.

In terms of who is the 'heroine' of Hellsing... Integra is the one who got this label in canon (and it has a different meaning in Japan than outside of it). Seras is an important character though (one of the top three), nobody is denying that, but she's not called a heroine. But people need to remember she played a very uncertain role in the first volume. She gets expanded roles in the animated versions because the producer, Ueda, loves her.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RobertFiddler In reply to HellsingThess [2012-10-04 06:54:25 +0000 UTC]

You shouldn't flip over the word "heroine" so much. It is not really a matter if she is mentioned that way officially or not, it is a matter how ir comes out in the story. Fans choose their heroes/heroines from the characters by sympathising with them. I sympathise with Seras because of her strong willpower, and humanity. If you like Integra because she is a strong human and great leader, of course you see her as the heroine. It's not like Harry Potter where you can know who the lead character is, Hellsing is about the member of the Hellsing organization, Seras, Alucard and Integra.

I just pointed out that considering the screentime Seras gets and the fact that Hirano made her the connection between the audiance and the story even in the manga, proves how important she became. Integra is not the one who's life we follow, or whose dreams we see our thoughts we hear. But Integra is a strong, heroic woman, literally a heroine, and the target of the enemy. So we see that Hellsing has more lead characters, it could be discussed who is the real heroine of the story, but the truth is there isn't one

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-04 09:06:23 +0000 UTC]

Being a "heroine" in Japanese fiction is not quite about being sympathetic *or* even heroic- I could pm you about it. I laughed because they use the terms outside a cultural context, you know?

>Integra is not the one who's life we follow, or whose dreams we see our thoughts we hear.

But we do? We see her grow up even more than Seras as she has more flashbacks of appearances of her past. Both Integra and Seras had a coming of age. However, the main character is Alucard, not them.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RobertFiddler In reply to HellsingThess [2012-10-04 09:22:21 +0000 UTC]

I understand of course,
It's true we did saw many flashbacks about Integra's life. Actually many characters have flashbacks but that's not my point. Integra's flashbacks are important on a point that mostly about her and her father discussing vampire nature, which is a story telling element. Still my point on Seras as the only character going through a character development in the manga's present time line, still stands. Integra is a full developed character, from the beginning, but we see not how she became such a great vampire hunter. We follow Seras' path to becoming something

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 2

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-04 09:47:03 +0000 UTC]

Look if the war had happened in volume 1, Integra would have freaked out and given up. IN Volume 2, Walter had to *peptalk her* to not surrender. Look how she was handling the crisis in those first volumes. The turning point was the attack to her headquarters that forced her to kill and bury her own soldiers. Then came volume 3 with the choice to slaughter people who could potential endanger her subordinates in Rio, she second guessed herself and hesitated. She even asked Walter if she did right or wrong.

Where was this hesitation in volume 8? It was gone. She built emotional strength and professionalism to not crumble was leader, even as far to condemn Walter who had been a crutch to her so far.

I'm kind of tired with this fanon GRRR super strong vampire hunter Integra who is static and uninteresting. Integra has a lot of flaws and development to grow strong. The difference with Seras is that hers focuses on volumes 1-6. Take a break. Some of it in volumes 8-9, it's more spread rather than suddenly flashbacks, love story, change overnight as Seras got, but the difference was that Hirano had Integra's character clear since the beginning (to the point he could mentally picture her voice) while he had no idea what to do with Seras until later (and he even admits it in character presentation). Both girls grew up, one as a human leader and another as vampire subordinate. The pace was different because Hirano had a clearer picture of one over the other earlier on.

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-04 09:28:15 +0000 UTC]

Integra in her flashback is a completely different person to how she is now. She's scaredcat, soft lady in distress who thinks the world is white/black and nothing how she grew up to be.

>Still my point on Seras as the only character going through a character development in the manga's present time line

Contradicted by the very own Major who called them both, Integra and Seras, incomplete creatures. Who did not acknowledge Integra as complete until volume 9, far *after* Seras complete grow. Please don't mistake a compressed development of two volumes that Seras had (because for the first time the story focused on her) with Integra's gradual change. The things she did in volume 6 or 8, she wouldn't have done it in volumes 1-2. Anderson's reaction to her from volume 1 and 6 should be telling. You have the flawed OVA version in your memory. Manga Integra was freaking out over crisis and was overly cocky in the first volumes. She acted as an immature leader.

>Integra is a full developed character, from the beginning, but we see not how she became such a great vampire hunter.

Except she wasn't. She's not even a vampire hunter. The one introduced as a vampire hunter is *Alucard*. She's supervising him. It's similar to how Maxwell does with Anderson, only more hands on.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

RobertFiddler In reply to HellsingThess [2012-10-04 20:45:45 +0000 UTC]

In most of the flashback she is a little girl, of course she is different, I didn't meant that. XD I simply meant her fast reachtions and clamness. And I actually did meant the manga, it may not appear so, but I've read the manga dozen more times than I watched the ova. Even in the manga, she calms down quickly after Anderson's attack, even have that smirk on "you cleaved his neck? Only that?". It's really not that grown up leader but definitely not a scared little girl, she maybe would have trouble but she is a fighter. Even in the first conflict with Anderson, we can see her reflexes and swordmanship in work. That's what I actually meant when I said vampire hunter. Those skill didn't developed during the story, Integra already had those. And the Major annouct Integra and the Hellsing family as leaders of the strongest vampire hunters. Leader is not the same as a superviser. Leader indicates that she is one of them, leading them on battlefield. So she maybe would be terrefied, but not freaked out and completly impotent as you described. She always adepted quickly during the manga.

But I do agree with you on that point, I don't like it when she is portayed as an almighty perfect leader. I always tought that be in doubt about our decisions is not a weakness. This world would be a better place if leaders would actually be more uncertain about what they do is right or not. That part of her still stays. Of course she acts because she realizes she has to do it, but there is doubt, there is hesitation. She nearly cries when she gives Alucard the order to fight Walter. And that's what I like the most about her, she does what she has to do even if it hurts. She isn't that much different from the beginning, but I do agree she accepted the decission she had to make easier.

HellsingThess In reply to RobertFiddler [2012-10-04 20:57:20 +0000 UTC]

>Even in the manga, she calms down quickly after Anderson's attack, even have that smirk on "you cleaved his neck? Only that?".

Did you notice the drops of sweat on her face? She was nervous. She's cocky, but not calm. She was also nervous before Anderson even faced her. Compared to what happened later. That was when she KNEW she had a chance to survive. In volume 6, she didn't and challenged death without giving a crap. That's what impressed Anderson. It wasn't the bravado posturing of volume 1, but actual internalized balls of steel.

Which she grew in the course of volumes 1 to 5. The development was gradual and paced because, unlike with Seras, Hirano actually knew what he was doing since the beginning. I doubt he had a grasp of Seras' arc until later (that's why there are so many holes. Like her she loses control! no wait, she doesn't anymore for no... reason? That is a dropped plotline ).

If you notice too the place of Walter in her life was like a crutch. She had to grow out him.

>And the Major annouct Integra and the Hellsing family as leaders of the strongest vampire hunters.

Mistranslation. The original quote is that she is the leader of the strongest vampire hunter (singular). He's speaking of Alucard the entire time. Integra's position as his boss, just like he speaks of Seras in relation to Alucard. Since, you know, he's OBSESSED with Alucard. Integra's job is a lot wider and rarely involves vampires (Vampire attacks were kind of rare before the story began). Her title is actually "minister of state" (the japanese one, so... yes... it's a lot more political and you know why Richard wanted her position lol). Alucard's her vampire hunter specialist. The reason why Hellsing manga was focused on a narrow scope of this is because the protagonist IS the vampire hunter (Alucard).

The thing is both Seras and Integra needed to man up. One as vampire subordinate and other as human leader. The culmination of both grow not just individual but as a team was that spread that announced them as Master/Servant and Major realizing they were the ones who would end him.

Well the way i always saw it was that Seras is the hero, but Alucard is an antihero at best. If not an outright monster who happens to be on the side of "good".
But then i dont really see anything sexy in hellsing, so i could be missing the point there.
Besides, as i have only ever been a borderline fanboy, been interested in too many fandoms to get that much into one, it just seems an alien idea to me.
I mean i do enjoy various fandoms, but not enough to alter it to my own ideas beyond as a way to write a story of my own where the charactors happen to fit or for amusement. I always saw them as nothing serious though...
