Description
I don't remember the last time, I made a fanart for a disney movie. I remember growing up on shows like DuckTales and Talespin. Making a world with Anthropomorphic animals is a very interesting way to make characters more expressive and unique. Zootopia had a nice nostalgic appeal to me, and the great story and the lovable/relatable characters just totally made this movie my favorite of the year. The first message of the movie about believing in ourselves and fighting for our goals, is great and inspirational, but the second message of the movie, about accepting others and that we must leave our prejudices of other people behind, elevate this piece to Wall-E level of ballsiness from Disney's part. I tell you, I smell an Oscar from a year away. If you haven't seen it yet I urge you to check it out!
The movie itself shows such a massive world that the possibilities to it feel endless. It inspired me so much, that I might do fan-comic for it later. For now, I only got this fanart about a scene that I felt missing. A little spoiler, around the end of the movie Judy Hopps injured her leg. But the next time we see her, it's after a huge timeskip. This pic is just a little idea about the time that was skipped.
So you may have asked, was I hyped for this movie?
No, no I wasn't, I expected a regular Disney movie, with a cute lifelesson on top for the kids.
Was I surprised?
Oh boy, zootopia is really nothing I've ever seen before.
[Update] I felt like I need to give Judy's face and eyes a bit more attention to get them right :3

Wall-E and Zootopia shares my personal first place of animated movies. They're just so damn good.

And you were absolutely right: Zootopia won 45 prizes aside of the well deserved Oscar movie for Best Animated Picture. Nice touch filling the gap with the story of what happened before the timeskip

I just realised this makes total sense- she hurts her leg, and then in the conclusion there isn't even a scar or bandage or something- thank for pointing this out!

I would have loved to see this scene in the actual movie.

I love how you implemented the 'answer a question with a question and answer that question instead' logic.

I have to echo your take on the movie. Zootopia is a wonderful homage to the roots of Disney animation, giving me that nostalgic feeling... but wholly updated to the next level.
And the amazingly strong lifelessons, likable characters, balance between action, comedy, and drama... this movie has it all. I agree: Likely an Oscar. And probably the first animated feature film that wins an Oscar for Best Picture in a loooong time.
Anyways, back to your art!
I LOVE this "Slice of Life" representation! So friendly, so intimate, so... perfectly normal! Instant Fave, for sure ππ

I don't even know what I expected. I just remember being halfway through it and saying, "I didn't know this was gonna be a cop show!" XD We also enjoy watching Psych and Castle, so we are no strangers to how detectives work.

Also, I highly recommend watching modern Detective Conan, is still a pretty well though show.
Even thought you may need to search somethings on the internet if you are interested on the Conan Vs Black Organization part because a lot happened.

Actually, I wonder what if Conan ever got involved in the nighthowler incident.

I can literally hear their voices saying these lines, talk about proper characterization! Β And your art is so on-model despite looking unique (not sure how you pulled that off btw, but it's sooo good!) Β Yeah, this totally could have been a scene. Β Also, agreed with your initial expectations for the film! I was not expecting the story or the character interactions to be so compelling. Β I'm glad they didn't rest on their "cute animal characters" laurels and decided to really flesh out a powerful message.
Thank you for making this!

Thank you very much! I did tried to make them as movie-like as my usual art-style allows me, I'm really glad that it turned out this good. Also, yesss Nick and Judy both are well developed characters, that I just cannot not love. I think the main reason, they are so likeable, is because they are not perfect. They have their flaws and they make mistakes, but they go and try to do something about it. I really liked that
