Description
I don't remember the last time, I made a fanart for a disney movie. I remember growing up on shows like DuckTales and Talespin. Making a world with Anthropomorphic animals is a very interesting way to make characters more expressive and unique. Zootopia had a nice nostalgic appeal to me, and the great story and the lovable/relatable characters just totally made this movie my favorite of the year. The first message of the movie about believing in ourselves and fighting for our goals, is great and inspirational, but the second message of the movie, about accepting others and that we must leave our prejudices of other people behind, elevate this piece to Wall-E level of ballsiness from Disney's part. I tell you, I smell an Oscar from a year away. If you haven't seen it yet I urge you to check it out!
The movie itself shows such a massive world that the possibilities to it feel endless. It inspired me so much, that I might do fan-comic for it later. For now, I only got this fanart about a scene that I felt missing. A little spoiler, around the end of the movie Judy Hopps injured her leg. But the next time we see her, it's after a huge timeskip. This pic is just a little idea about the time that was skipped.
So you may have asked, was I hyped for this movie?
No, no I wasn't, I expected a regular Disney movie, with a cute lifelesson on top for the kids.
Was I surprised?
Oh boy, zootopia is really nothing I've ever seen before.
[Update] I felt like I need to give Judy's face and eyes a bit more attention to get them right :3

That pun was bad. Like really, really bad. And they knew it. What made it even better ^^
Zootopia is great. It has great fanart like this and a lot of place for fanfictions (very big, living world + old, much darker concept).

Thank you very much! I did had a feeling I got his expression better than Judy's. I don't know what, but something doesn't feel right about her. Any ideas?

Hmmmmm, maybe the expression on her face could be improved. Β I feel like she doesn't look enough like herself. Β But overall I absolutely love the picture of them both. Β Β It's so cute that Nick is flirting with Judy in the picture.

I gotta say, I was also surprised by the movie myself. Not to mention, the morals and the characters who really sold the movie. Finally the world itself, that place is just amazing! With how creative it was and just opened itself for many insane possibilities, plus Judy and Nick are such awesome and believable, charactersΒ with such sweet chemistryΒ that you kinda hoping they end up together somewhere along the way (or if there's a sequel/TV spin off XD) Also! Huzzah for a possible fan comic :3

I am thinking what It might be. I heard the rumors of the original Zootopia that was a lot darker. They were already making the test animations, when someone rushed in and told that they need to rewrite the story. The original Zootopia was dark noir-style spystory, with Nick as the main character instead of Judy, where predators were looked down, and had to wear "taming collars" that would shock them if they misbehaved. This is a really dark concept, so dark, they tought people would hate the city and wouldn't root for Nick to save it. That's why the story got a whole optimistic reskin, which is for the better. But doing a comic based on the original idea could be a good challange to write and draw, as an alternative universe story. But other part of me wants to just expand the official universe with sidestories for the Nick and Judy we met in the movie. What do you think?
Anyway, I will make a few test comic strips to practice my "disney" artstyle, before deciding that.

Honestly, I would say go with the 2nd idea, for you see while the original concept sounds good on paper it pretty much ruins the entire moral that the movie presents about prejudice. So, we essentially get a moral that pretty much falls apart from the start, a character who at no point will wanna change because he's already presented as a sort of cynic with the philosophy of "if the world see's you as scum, than continue being scum", and Judy herself would also be a bigoted racist who's sudden change wouldn't make any sense. An yeah, the viewers wouldn't see any point to root for the city or Nick himself in a way, since he'd have no point to try and proof otherwise to Judy or anyone else that he isn't a badguy. So yeah, this is just my view but I'd say go with the 2nd idea, I mean I love a noir-style spystory and as I said on paper the original concept simply sounds awesome, but in execution I'd say it would crash and burn. But, that's just how I see it
