Description From the most ancient districts of Delhi, India, it's Kiran Singh, AKA Solstice!

This iteration of Solstice has an interesting history, she is a direct descendant of Rajput warrior kings.  (In Sanskrit, Singh means lion, and was adopted by the warrior castes in India.)  Her parents were archaeologists, working to find new digs in India, from the Indus Civilization to the Mughal Empire.  They also worked closely with Helena Sandsmark, the mother of Cassie Sandsmark, AKA Wonder Girl, and both Cassie and Kiran were childhood friends.  However, at age 13, she was captured by The Reach in order to awaken the meta-gene that was held deep within her.  Tortured, she ended up developing powers over light and heat, and her skin became smokey and black in appearance, with blue light shining through various cracks in her skin, and even from the gemstone on her forehead.  Fortunately, she was rescued by the newest incarnation of the Teen Titans, among them was Cassie, who was now Wonder Girl.  Realizing that she now had powers over heat, Kiran decided to use her new powers for good, and took on the alias of Solstice, one of the Teen Titans!

Yes, Solstice is pretty much naked, but there is a reason for that.  Her powers have thermal effects, so if she goes full flame, her clothes will likely burn off.  At first this was pretty much a problem for her, considering that she didn't want to be seen naked in a fight.  However, eventually she just didn't want to waste money on clothes she was just going to burn to ash in battle, so she just started going around naked all the time to prevent that problem from happening.  The silver lining to that is that her private parts are not shown to her classmates.  She's best friends with Wonder Girl, Bunker, Nightstar, Robin (Tim Drake), and especially Holly Granger, AKA Hawk.

Hawk and Solstice have good reasons for being best friends.  As India was a former colony in the British Empire, England and India still are on relatively good terms, and there are a large amount of Indian, Bangledeshi and Pakistani immigrants living in the British Isles.  So Hawk and Solstice share close cultural ties with each other.  Also, Kiran is an expert in cooking the one thing that Hawk can't get enough of:  Curry.  All over Britain, there are 9,000 curry houses across the country.  Hawk loves curry, and she always has ever since she was a little girl in London.  So, Solstice is more than happy to cook up either chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, or even goat korma for her friends.  As she's from India, Solstice, like many international Titans, is more than happy to share her culture with her teammates, and is in the yoga club and the martial arts club, in order to live up to the prowess of her Rajput ancestors.  Finally, although she speaks fluent English, Solstice's primary languages are Hindi and Urdu, so she has a thick Indian accent, plus she is Hindu, which was a reference to the comics, where she once refered to the Hindu gods when she was angry.

Disclaimer:  Solstice belongs to DC Comics, Nicola Scott and J.T. Krul.

I like that you got rid of her glowing eyes and mouth (at least when she's not using her powers). Another thing I like about your version, is that her hair isn't constantly billowing like smoke (like in the comics). It possibly still could, but I'm sure that she'd have conscious control over it (she could even use it to create smoke screens to conceal her teammates and confuse the enemy). The gemstone on her forehead is a unique added feature, but given that she's Hindi, it makes sense.

I can imagine that the first time she went full out with her powers (probably during training), and her clothes burned off, she became VERY embarrassed. I'm sure that would have made Bart rush around to find something to cover her up with.

Ooh, you've got a point about the smokescreens.  She'd definitely be able to do that as well.  I just didn't like how her eyes and mouth glowed all the time.  I'm thinking of doing the same for Prysm as well, along with her hair.  Funny thing, the first time that she went all out, when the Titans were fighting against the Reach, trying to escape, her hospital gown that she was wearing burned clear off, thus she became very embarrassed.  Of course, Kid Flash did have a nosebleed (In anime and manga, it's used for when a character is sexually excited.), but he also did get her something to cover her up with.

In the comics, she was also good friends with Wonder Girl and Bunker (At least during the New 52), so I was thinking that she'd approach him on how to handle romantic relationships, as she's in love with Kid Flash, but doesn't know how to express it.  She'd probably turn to Wonder Girl as well, but funny thing is that Cassie and Miss Martian often argue over who will be the girlfriend of Superboy.  Plus, Solstice and Ravager also have a friendly rivalry over Kid Flash, but Kiran also is the mentee of Raven, since they are both constantly meditating together.  Though Solstice does it as a way to relieve stress when she feels like she's really overwhelmed.  And like all Hindus, she holds cattle as sacred animals, and so it's against her beliefs to eat beef in any form, so she felt a bit sickened when offered a steak or a burger for the first time.

Oh man, trying to get relationship advice from Cassie, even though she's feuding over Conner with M'gann. Cassie's advice might confuse Kiran, but she'd probably know that Cassie means well. Holly would probably offer Kiran the best advice, since she's not one to feud over a guy. The friendly rivalry between Kiran and Rose could secretly be Rose's way of getting Kiran to be more confident with her feelings for Bart.

She would be sickened by her first encounter with a beef burger, but I'm sure she'd eventually understand that her teammates do come from cultures that are different from her own. Cassie, Holly and Bart would definitely make sure that the places they're going out to eat at have other options, like poultry or fish.

Heh, yeah I'd definitely see her geting the best advice from Holly, or possibly even Nightstar, as she's still learning to control her powers, plus Mar'i is Tim's girlfriend (Tim wasn't adopted by Bruce in this version once his father died, but still lives in Wayne Manor nonetheless. Plus, he's Nightwing's protege rather than Batman's.)  As for the friendly rivalry with Rose, that would definitely be something to consider.

As for the first encounter with a beef burger.  Plus, she's got Jaime there as well, since he understands her somewhat.  Though Kiran can also eat pork, lamb, and even goat.  (Yes, they do eat goat in India.)  I'm also thinking of having her look up to Starfire, since the two of them and Nightstar have similar powers over heat, and they can all fly.  Alright, next up will probably be either Prysm or Mirage.  I'm still looking for a reference for Red Star's armored look.  But I've definitely got one for Shining Knight!

Prysm and Mirage, nice. Looking forward to those two.

I'm sure Kiran and Audrey can relate to each other on the whole naked issue.

Yep, Audrey and Kiran will definitely relate to each other on being naked. However, Prysm will also relate to Argent, since they're both H'san Natall half-breeds. Her mentor will be Starfire as well, mainly because Kori can relate to Audrey adjusting to a new life on Earth.
