Lock and Key Graphite Drawing11"x14" Bristol Board Series 500 Vellum Surface
Staedtler Mechanical pencils .003 H,.003 HB,.003 2B
Derwent Drawing pencils H-9B
Q-tips and Blending Stumps
Kneaded Eraser
Approx. 50 hours
I found this lock and key at an antique store in Waynesville Ohio. The background is an old board I found in the garage. The lock, key and board were too similar in tone so to create contrast I used a lighter to burn a white piece of drawing paper then nailed it to the board behind the lock and key. My mission here was to capture the texture of the materials used.

Thank you. I have always drawn. My drawings were always "ok". Recently as of a couple months ago I joined DA. I soon realized my drawings were CRAP! Compared to other artists. So, I decided to focus and take my time to see if I could draw as well as some here on DA. I haven't reached my potential but I think im making progress. The ability to draw well is in the eye. You have to learn how to see more clearly.
