Description Here's the inks over Terrell Bobbett's incredible pencils that can be found here [link]

I must say, that even though I'm a bit rusty, I think that the inks came out somewhat decently. Hopefully, the next few inks I put out will knock off the rest of the rust. Hope you all like it, and (of course) Peter Parker/Spider-Man belongs to Marvel Comics.

Take Care and God Bless,
Chad

Beautiful! So neat and... proffesional But that ain't such a surprise I take. You are an official Marvel inker then? That is so amazing! Would you like to join the spider-man club? We've been trying to get some official Spider-man members to join! It would be amazingly great if you would like to join!

Thanks for the compliments! Sadly, I'm not an official Marvel inker. I was offered a job once, but the life of a freelance inker is a hard one and I like my day job for now. But I'd still be willing to join the club, and I do have a friend who on here who drew a Spider-Man comic for Marvel a while back. I'm sure he'd like to join.

Mr Bobbett! I know him, I already asked him to join. I sure hope he wants to
And yes, I understand a job as a freelance inker is a very hard one. You have no guarantees you always will have the job. But awesome you still want to join! Could you please watch the club and put our icon in your journal? Thank you!

Thanks very very much. Hopefully Terrell and I can get some work together this Summer. Well... If I get a LOT faster than what I am right now. lol. And thanks for the fav as well.

thelearningcurv In reply to Robo-Bug [2007-04-20 14:42:35 +0000 UTC]

no problem.... how long does it normally take for you to ink a page like this? how bout for sequentials?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robo-Bug In reply to thelearningcurv [2007-04-21 13:56:15 +0000 UTC]

Right now, a piece like this takes me like 16 hours. I need to get my speed up to about 6 hours, so I have a LOT of inking to do to try and make that pace. That's why I don't do a lot of sequentials right now. I get burned out to quickly.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thelearningcurv In reply to Robo-Bug [2007-04-21 16:26:29 +0000 UTC]

wow, yea that is a good deal of time for a pin up. Try taking a piece and just set a time for you to finish, regardless of the final product. don't worry about what it looks like, just worry about finishing it on time, and then after a lot of those you'll get use to the pace and things will start to click on how to speed things up and what to do to make things work..... Do you do that already? if not, you may wanna try. see if it helps=]

I'm sort of implimenting that now, but I'll keep at it and hopefully see some improvement before my trip to San Diego this year. Thanks for the tip.

Robo-Bug In reply to Patrucca [2006-11-10 13:36:19 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't beat yourself up to much. I started inking about 4 years ago, and I was living with comic book artists who could help me out. Plus, I made some good contacts with inkers at cons, and even mad online inker friends with people willing to look at my inks and tell me what's good and what's bad. Robert Armstrong was the most helpful person to me in all my later growth (inker over Pat Lee), and I still haven't met him face to face. lol. So just keep at it, and you'll be better than most in no time.

I use Photoshop to turn the pencil lines to a nonhoto blue hue and then print it out on 300 pound cold press bristol board. Then it goes to the inking table and gets the brush work I so love to do. After I'm done, I scan it back into Photoshop, play with the levels a little (curves and brightness/contrast a little if needed as well), and then I send it off to be seen. Hope that answers your question. The inking is all done by hand, excpet for the rare times when I need like a perfect circle in the background (like a moon or sun for instance) and don't have a circle template large enough. I'd use a compass, but I don't have one that I trust enough to hold a perfect line all the time.

WOW, thank you very much for all the info... right now I'm trying to get my colors to look pro ... but I figured while I'm at it, to try inking as well ... I'm starting to find it almost as much fun as coloring... thanks again

Robo-Bug In reply to Patrucca [2006-11-10 18:34:42 +0000 UTC]

Heh, well, if you have any questions about inking, feel free to ask. I can't help out much with the coloring thing though. Since I'm color blind and all. lol. Probably why I'm a decently good inker.

Lol. Thanks, man. There's a few things in it that I need to touch up a bit, but overall, I'm happy with it. Not as rusty as I thought I was, but definitely not where I need to be just yet. The next piece will be better. Really glad you like it though, and thanks for the fav. Gotta love getting a fav from the penciler.

Oh shite.......it's Chad Cole, the man we all know, settin' the standard with inks we all gander, watch the greatness flow.

Yeah, and that's no caffeine either .

It looks solid to me. Now, I would add all sorts of texture to the wall, but that's me, and that's why I'm not at Marvel . It'll all come back, just work on your speed and you'll be puttin' Miki outta business.

Robo-Bug In reply to NickMockoviak [2006-10-08 19:21:19 +0000 UTC]

LOL! Thanks, Nick. Put Miki out of business?!? That guy has more inking talent in his pinky toe than I have in my whole body. lol. And speed? He inks like 4 books... a day! lol. Glad you liked it though. Not sure I'm setting any standards. Maybe the "one inking piece a year" standard. lol.

first - glad to see that you are still inking - don't ask me how ruste i am he he - anyway...this are some fine inks - like your hatches - wish i could do it in this way. Okay, i must nickpicking ....i would do - a little bit - thicker lines on the window and the wall here and there to get more deep. Some lines are thinner than some lines in the background - IMO - like i said - i have searched to find something...great to see some new stuff from you. thumbs up.
