Description Here's the next inked piece from Terrell Bobbett's four sample Spideys. Overall, I'm happy with the results. I still have a lot to do in getting used to my brush again, and of course "SPEED". Man I'm slow. lol.

The pencils can be found at this link. [link]

Thanks! Yeah. The inking can be pretty hard to get for a while. It took me two years to get to the point where I was even remotely decent, and another two years until it was anything anyone would want in their book.

Thanks, bud. This was done with good ol' brush and ink (and some microns here and there as well). The digi-inks I save for things like Robo Bug. Glad you like it, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Heh, thabks a lot, man. There are a few things here and there that I would have liked to change (and actually did later on, but gave the inks to a friend and forgot to scan them), but over all, it's a piece I'm happy with. Glad you're happy with it too.

Robo-Bug In reply to Patrucca [2006-11-10 13:28:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks again. Yep. All of my inkng on comic book work is done by hand. I do some digital inking from time to time, but that's only over my Robo Bug stuff.

Patrucca In reply to Robo-Bug [2006-11-10 16:42:22 +0000 UTC]

hehe ... I need to find myself a decent brush pen to do more traditional inking... for now I'm all digital ... and your Robo Bug is adorable

I'd suggest trying to learn with either a quill or a brush first. If you can master one of those, you'll be well on your way.

You and ~bobbet are fantastic together. It's a pity for the comic world that you two aren't permanently joined at the hip like siamese twins.

Thanks, but really, I bet you could. It took me YEARS to get to this point, and I still have a lot to learn and impove on. I don't think we ever get to a point where we won't be able to improve though. Lol. But keep with it, anf it'll come.

digitalskull In reply to Robo-Bug [2006-10-28 14:10:30 +0000 UTC]

I do all my inking with rapido graph pens. In the past I have been too heavy handed with the brush. But I'll keep trying. Thanks.

mechangel2002 [2006-10-26 17:41:47 +0000 UTC]

I think the hatching on his right arm and should can be graded a little more but I love the texture you gave it.... how do you do that? (on the tree and building) Mine are always so heavy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robo-Bug In reply to mechangel2002 [2006-10-26 18:01:42 +0000 UTC]

The right hand side of the page or Spidey's right arm (on the left side of the page)? lol. I'm confused easily.

As for the fine lines for texture, I can pretty much get a hair line thin stroke with my brush when I want to. Heh, took some time to get that with control though.

HIS right arm That happens when I point out stuff like that XD

Ooh.... I need to find you at a con someday and get you to show me that

Robo-Bug In reply to mechangel2002 [2006-10-27 12:28:21 +0000 UTC]

Ah. I understand what you're talking about now. That all sort of depends on the size it's printed at really. If it's a splash page, it should still work as a nice grey tone (though some of the feathering may be a little to close still... I'll have to print it out at that size to see). However, if this was a small panel on a page, it would really turn into a black blob.

If I'm ever at a con you're at, I'll remember to bring my inking supplies. Heh, I normally don't bring them to conventions, but sometimes I have to, so I have a fully finctional portable inking station. Lol. One can never be to prepared.
