Description This guy was a real character. He was one of the old political officers from the beginning of the war, one of the guys who screamed propaganda at the top of his lungs and who everyone generally loathed. He was a cool guy, though.

Well, most of the political officers were respected by soldiers.

Not one step backwards ! (Or you will be shot!) Oh yeah while I remember, the guy with the rifle shoots with the rifle, the guys with only bullets pick up the dead guy's rifle once he is done with it! Good luck! I will be back here if there are any questions!

I tried imagining hearing this guy shouting propaganda and I started having flashbacks from Metro 2033 and this started playing in my head.

This guy was horrible. It was a mid-war event and he was stuck in 1940. Executing men and seizing control of units. He's got a reputation throughout the northeastern US for being a horrible commissar. He doesn't even follow uniform regulations - he has long hair which he hides under his hat and wears an awful fake scar that changes location every event.

ThatΒ΄s very good shot, but if it is from winter war (1939-1940) he cannot have Gvardija badge(on his right side, over star), because this corps was based since year 1941 sometimes is less better than more. I like this photo very much!

ROBOPOPE In reply to onlysmoke [2010-12-29 03:26:44 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like it! Remember, though, I didn't take this photo, see the appropriate journal for full credit. Furthermore, this is an early war uniform so it's very likely that this particular commissar could have been a member of a guards unit in 1941 with the 1938 uniform.

We are doing an immersion event in october. its a drive on stalingrad event.

Ah, well, that would do it. I didn't know you were from Finland. If I remember correctly, the Finns captured most of the Suomis during the Winter War.

Any chance you could get me one? >_>

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tuomaskoivurinne In reply to ROBOPOPE [2008-10-04 21:39:28 +0000 UTC]

Hah! I think you need to re-read your history lessons! Suomi is from Finland. The word "Suomi" is Finnish for "Finland", the gun was designed by Aimo Lahti in the late 20's, early 30's and was one of the best submachine guns at its time, they were sold around the world, and its one of the memorable icons of the Finnish military history. During the Winter War, it was one of the aces we had in our sleeve against the Soviet aggression (since Soviets had very little smg's at the time). After the Winter War some features from "Suomi" were copied into PPSh, which came into use in 1941.
"Suomi" m/31 remained in the army service until the 70's I believe.

how much would a good Russian sniper cost??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ROBOPOPE In reply to WolfKnightLord [2008-09-24 16:23:00 +0000 UTC]

You mean the rifle? Sniper variant Nagants are hard to find and cost a lot of money, especially if you can find one with all original parts. We're talking thousands of dollars.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfKnightLord In reply to ROBOPOPE [2008-09-24 16:35:43 +0000 UTC]

dam...

dos it have to be original? don't they make replicas?

how about that German snipers money? what is that worth?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ROBOPOPE In reply to WolfKnightLord [2008-09-24 17:51:42 +0000 UTC]

The German rifle is worth even more than the Russian rifle. No replicas have been made because demand for sniper weapons is almost nonexistent. And it has to be original or at least a replica.
