Anita was raised by her father, Toshan. Her other father died when she was very young at the hands of a villain. Both of her fathers used to work as pro-heroes but after his husband's passing, Toshan gave up professional hero work in favor of acting in commercials and other odd jobs to get by

Her other father's name was Akio.

Anita doesn't particularly have strong feelings towards Akio. She admires him as a great hero and is sad that Toshan misses him so much, but doesn't particularly feel any personal connection to him.

Anitas quirk manifested fairly early (when she was around 3) and she often used it to play games and hide from her father. Her desire to evade her father during one of these games was the first time that her quirk manifested itself!

Anitas quirk caused the loss of both of her legs. Her and her father didn't realize that her quirk caused cellular deterioration until it was too late and lasting damage had been caused. Before they realized that this was an issue she used her hands to activate her quirk, but much less than her legs. Because of this, she continues to have occasional pain in her hands, and suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome (she often wears wrist braces to suppress the pain). However despite the harm that it has caused to her body, she loves her quirk and wants to become stronger so that she can better deal with the side-effects.

Anita has spent her whole emulating her father as much as she can. She looks and dresses much like her father. However, personality-wise she is almost the polar opposite.

Anita has always been upset that her father gave up hero work and enjoys watching old videos of him in action. She largely wants to be a hero due to what she sees as her father's lost potential. She likes to look at old pictures of Toshan and Akio back then they fought villains together. She views her father's death as tragic, but also heroic, and to an extent sees her father as a coward for giving up his role as a hero because of one unfortunate event. She would not hesitate to sacrifice herself to save others.

She has always viewed the best hero as being one who, even more than having a good quirk, is fearless and unwavering. She strives to be a hero who others will be able to look up to as a source of overcoming fear.

Akio was a student at U.A., and because of this Anita insisted on going from a young age. Anita and Toshan originally lived in Osaka, but moved to Musutafu so that she could easily commute to school. She and her Toshan live in a small apartment about a 15 minute drive from the school (Toshan drives her to school every day on his way to work, and Anita walks home since Toshan doesn't come back home until fairly late).
