I was going to write a comment, but it wasn't fitting, so I erased it. Then I tried again but it sounded stupid, so I erased it. But it probably sounded much less stupider than I'm sounding now.
Okay. I'm going to start over again.
The expression 'my heart skipped a beat' is incredible because it's so literal. Personal examples being, say, the first time Out of Control (Hoobastank) played on the radio, or the time I tried to sneak home after skipping class and nearly got hit by Mum's car, or the time that voice over the phone kindly informed me that my AP Calculus score was threeeeeeeee. Yep, those are the times when that heart skips a beat. I don't think I've nearly gotten to the point yet.
