Johnathan Moto Hayashi
He was born originally in Osaka Japan, orphaned when his mother died on his 12th birthday, and Child services tried to take Johnny away, he refused to go to a false parent, so he ran away. He never knew his father, and his grandparents were on Harvest when the Covenant attacked.
Johnny lived most of his life on the streets of the Megacity Neo Tokyo, He has been chased down by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department for a long time, due to his thefts and substance abuse. He was an adept martial artist, and a clever free runner, which allowed him to get about the city rather quickly to escape the TMPD.
On his 18th birthday, he was finally caught. His lawyer gave him the option of getting out of the trial if he signed up for the UNSCDF, or spend 10 to 12 in clink.
Johnny then registered to the UNSC a week later after great thinking. He did want to make up for his crimes, but maybe saw this as an opportunity to redeem himself.

Once Johnny finally finished up on his training, h was deployed into battle for the first time. He's never seen so much death and destruction in his life, the Covenant just showed how much of monsters they could be, it all horrified him.
For two years, Johnny has been fighting against the Covenant, he earned the title of the best shot next to Avery Johnson, being quite an adept marksman with the Sniper rifle.
He became an ODST when a squad of troopers from the 105th ODST division were pinned down by a Scarab, their squad was in terrible shape, and just as they were about to be killed by it's ravaging main gun, Johnny managed to get aboard and destroy it's "Heart", rescuing the troopers. The Brass went over Johnny's stats again and again very carefully, before picking him out of basic infantry and dropping him into the ranks of the 105th, one of the very few marines lucky enough to earn the title just from 2 years of combat.

Johnny is rather short for an ODST, but he makes up for his 5 foot stature with dead eye accuracy, bone cracking martial arts, and lightning quick reflexes, something the UNSC couldn't possibly turn down. Johnny did undergo a hard time, being constantly made fun of by other marines for being short. Though he doesn't care what others do, if anyone calls him tiny or short, he will simply open the largest galactic can of whoopass onto the poor soul.
