Description
While remining in service still, the old MJOLNIR Mk5 has served as the iconic armor for the SPARTAN II program, the armor always had olive green armor from the translucent Gel layer through the armor. ONI's "Quiet" research wing had been tampering with the technology of the MK5, and developed a more faster, and slightly lighter set of the MK5, It was a new breed basically. The Modified Mk5 was enhanced to be slightly faster, lighter, and is the only model with a prototype HUD system, the system that allows one to dual weild. And the armor's plates had the gel layer coated in carbon and silicon, making the plates much lighter, and deceptively stronger. And the suit had a prototype cloaking device that allowed the suit and it's wearer to cloak fully, sadly only for a minimum of 20 seconds.Only 3 of these MK5 P2s were made, only for a Specialtask unit of the SPARTAN II project, the Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack was a small three man squad of spartans, made for the utmost suicidal missions, they Litterally acted like a pack of wolves against the rebels, and the covenant. The Squad was led by SPARTAN 238, Alex Wulf, a Single survivor of an ambush that killed his teammates, the Covenant knew the Wof Pack was coming, and dropped in hunters. The Wolf pack was not made for full fledged combat, but for infiltration, reconissance, stealth, and assasination. 238 managed to take the hunters down when dropping a Phantom from it's docking tractors on the hunters. 238 grabbed the star map that conatined the co-ordinates to Earth, and left, only to be shot down and crash landed on an asteroid. He was mortally wounded in the crash, horrible plasma burns and critical lascerations. If the UNSC's flagships hadn't found him when his suit dropped a beacon, he would have died. 238 was placed in cryo sleep after aving new organs placed in from flash cloning, and being pactched up. Since September 22 2522, He had been frozen. He received his new MK6 when he was thawed in October 2552, from there, he had been seeing service in his newly modified MK6, the new MK6 had a newer power supply, so the Cloaking device could cloak for as long as an Elite's can now.

the ONLY thing i found wrong with them was the Mark V 's shins. other than that, they look BADASS. say, do you think these could be replicated using Bryce 6.0? (Bryce is a 3-D computer modeling software, just in case you've never heard of it)

I have heard of Bryce before, but I just never used it, so I ain't certain if this can be recreated in there or not.

I rendered this all in poser, most of the models I got from the Halomaps forums and my copy of Halo CE. At first, I believe I used a stand alone .gbx model converter, and it reverted the Halo CE models into workable .3ds files, I imported those into poser and painstakingly rigged them to poseable meshes. I'm looking at the meshes now and I saw how god awful the smoothing was.

Well, I found the Halo 3 Spartan, and I extracted the CE model through the .gbx model extractor and converted the textures using "BITMAP Converter"

must be fun to use along with a combat knife and a sniper rifle.......
wonder why the halo games don't have a knife attack like call of duty 4? you would think they would have a built in gauntlet knife or something... like republic commando..

Yeah, Well, I guess Bungie thought it was too far into the future to use knives anymore. But then again, I have seen sheathes on Marines in Halo 2 and 3.
I have played multiplayer of COD4 and saw the effects of using the knife. And the Vibroblade of the Clone commandos is certainly a handy lil tool.

yea.. but in the books the Spartans are issued knifes with their armor.. think in the older armor they had sheathes in the legs for a combat knife.
heh the marines are always talking about stabbing grunts i bet.....
btw do you know what the mariens armor is made out of.. i think is ceramic/metal composite armor, but imm not sure.

I know the scorpion tank's armor is made out of Ceramic Titanium, But the armor on the marines would have to be a light alloy if they have to wear it everywhere.

WolfKnightLord In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2008-05-22 20:56:02 +0000 UTC]
yea, but it would need to be ceramic to protect from plasma fire for an amount of time, and metal for any ballistic deflection.
most lilky it is a lighter alloy of the tanks armor. spartan armor would be the same stuff i bet. it weighs like almost a ton with out a spartan in it...

No, the Spartans armor is not the same, if it was, Spark would've killed the chief when he was blasted in the chest in H3.
In the details I read, the Spartan's armor is next to indestructible, but the gaps in the armor for motion leave the wearer mortal.
But it has me thinking though, The chief dies from long falls, But in the beginning of Halo 3, he can survive a 2 Kilometre drop at the speed of a meteor and LIVE?!

yes, but i got a little fisic law here, do you know the bullet proof vests? even if they stop the bullet the person its still pushed and hit by the bullet and get contucion wonds that a lot of people has die by internal bleeding ocacionated by this. and a bullet in the head even if the helmet recives the bullet, the head its still pushed and by that energy the spinal cord will be separated and broken by the inmense energy hehe... invensibility its not reality right now...

Spartans technically have reinforced skeleton tissue, so how those properties affect Spartans is still beyond me.

thats the internal dampening system.... a hydrostatic gel
Johnson's wearing the standard armor only died because of shock, seeing as his armor is lighter and dos nor have dampening gel as well as heating cooling system. the blast from spark is just a big sential blast. he was not built to fight, and the only reason Jonson died was because he as already banged up and it was mainly shock i think.. also energy shields....
i think the spartan armor is just ceramic/carbon along with metal.
in the fall of reach the chiefs glove is cut to the flesh by a energy sword which is just shaped plasma. so it cant be indestructible. also the real reason Spartans are so tough is the argumentations to the Spartans them selfs. metal added to bones, all sorts of stuff done to organs and nerve system.
BUT the armor its self is next to worthless with out the SHIELDS! they are the real reason Spartans are so hard to kill. the humans shields are acutaly upgraded versions of the covanat shields, but our power is not as good as them.. so we need mini nuke reactors to power our better shields
add all that together and you get resilient soldiers that have been training since about 7 years or so old to kill stuff.... you get Spartans.
its not hard to drop form the atmosphere in armor that can defend against plasma blasts because the heat would not be much worse, all you have to do is let drag slow you down enough for the gel to soften the impact, and hitting trees is a GOOD idea, seeing as they will slow you down and give way. how ever, its not a generally good idea .. as it all depends on what you hit.. chief got soft jungle rooting leaf dirt, in the fall of reach they hit hard pack dirt and 4 Spartans died and 6 were seroisely damaged.

6 years old actually.
But still, the chief fell 2 kilometres from that ship during Re-entry, and the crate rhe made in teh ground should have been deeper, even if he did break all those trees. His internal organs should have been shredded up by that fall. Think about it, in Halo 1 and 2, he dies from falling from massive heights, but he survives 2 mile falls? Now that is Out XD

its about the angle. he very fell a long way, he started over a ocean and angled his flight toward the continent. his organs are reinforced, almost super human. he pumped his gel presure over the safe limit for a few minutes before he hit, and that caused the suit to lock up. he never fell strait down, which would kill him, like in the halo games.
as for the crater, i bet he skipped a few times, but yea is should have been longer and deeper but hey, they got everything else right about that game.

WolfKnightLord In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2008-05-23 14:40:59 +0000 UTC]
hmmm i don't remember any debris. if there was no not really... there was a major fleet engagement over Africa not too long ago, as well as the fact that Africa looks like a war zone. besides if you are talking about the forerunner ship, it was not destroyed then, it had to activate the portal. the chief merely rode it until it was in most of the atmosphere then bailed and coasted farther over Africa he didn't fall from THAT high. we know this because he was not very far from the human base, with in pelican flight range.

Are you kidding me? its a large hunk of metal that was right where you start in Halo 3, it is in a large crater and looks forerunner.
And perhaps he did ride it down and THAT is what caused all the damage and threw his ass against the ground.

WolfKnightLord In reply to Robotlouisstevenson [2008-05-23 17:14:19 +0000 UTC]
the massive forerunner dreadnought was used by the covenant to power the portal to the ark. you can see it fall as the portal opens. and imm not sure what you mean about the rubble .. ill go look at it today.
in the fall of reach a group of 27spartans fell from a pelican. they were about 8 kilometers up and coasted for about 10 minutes in a angle toward their objective. 4 were killed when they hit hard ground, 6 were injured to the point they could only fight form a fixed position, and the rest suffered minor damage to organs and small fractures to their augmented skeletons. now, the chief could wait until he was lower and didn't have to bail so high, which means he coasted for a shorter time. also i think his shields are better than the standard spartan.
the book also said something about reactive circuits which made them tough, not sure what those are though.
