Description
This is loosely based on a drawing I made back in 2002 named "Before I Lose Everything", after a song from the now disbanded Mighty Man and Yuk. But instead of making the same thing, I gave it a bit of a happier tone. Here's the link for the old piece: [link]The smoke bubbles idea was taken from that time back in 2002 when one of my friends thought that she could make everyone in our group quit smoking by giving everyone a bubble maker. (She followed the logic that we'd be too preoccupied to light a cigarette while we were busy making bubbles.) A few moments later, one of us lit a cigarette and blew smoke into some bubbles. They looked so nice, everyone else lit up and no one was able to quit smoking.

I really REALLY like this picture. It captures the feel of a fun summer's night without being too obvious and the style is amazing (not to mention the pose/anatomy) I think this is one of the best peices I've seen in a long time

Hey, nice work. I love the colors and the subject matter. A couple things to watch next time... Maybe raise the tops of the buildings a bit to make the girl seem less cramped and to get rid of unneccessary blank space at the top of the composition. It would also get rid of the tangent that the bubble and the building tops create. Other than that, excellent! Love the style!

When I first saw this on the front page, under Daily Deviations, I didn't think I was going to like it because of the weird combination of the warm colours and the cooler colours. It seemed very uneven and balanced from the thumbnail and I was sure it'd ruin the entire picture and hurt my eyes.
But when I clicked it I was amazed. The contrast of the colours is very, very lovely and perfectly balanced. I love the profile of the girl, and her outfit, and some of the tinier details like the way you shaded on the folds on her shirt. The background is very pretty and I like the setting.
The cat also seems to finish it off, I love how he is just down there looking up at her.

Neat idea, carried out very amazingly. It's technical and complex, yet the similar colors in the back ground give it a tinge of simplicity that puts more emphasis on the characters and foreground. It has some real depth to it too, the characters feel asthough they are reasonably high up.
I love the way the background from bottom up, has a gradient overlay which makes the bottom look brighter than the top. That gives it a real modern feel.
