The last JLA Adventures cover I did. This one was a blast. I inked it in Illustrator. Never again will I do that. Not my cup O Tea.Related content

Lovely work! I remember when this cover came out - still one of my faves. It has a really great palette.

Oooh, funky! I'm not even into most of those characters, but the art makes me want to know what's going on. I really need to check out those comics anyway, considering how much I loved Batman Adventures and Gotham Adventures.

I'm guessing you had to use the pen tool to get those dynamic lines... yikes. it looks great, though! how did you color it? also in illustrator? what do you usually use?

I'm on deviant since a few weeks, and this is an endless discovery of prodigious artists.
Your colors, man, are mind-storming... Truly amazing works here.

Balls of steel Kelsey! YOUR LIGHTING IS UNBLEVEABLE! Well its SO BELIEVEABLE, that i cant believe it..................................you get it, thi is sick man.
Also with regards to the sketchbook, all you have to do is put the disclaimer in it that the images are for scholistic purposes only, then i think you are fine, talk to Cheeks, he knows all about that stuff.

Great cover, saw it online and ended up picking up the Issue on the strength of it. Deadman and Etrigan together can't go far wrong!

First off...luv all the mystical characters in this. And then there's the great lighting and coloring.
Hoping you'll put out a con sketchbook/artbook and put all these nifty covers in it.

Well, I have a nice sketchbook in the works, but I can't put any of the stuff I've done for Marvel or DC. They don't let folks make money off their stuff.

If that's the case, everyone in artists alley wouldn't have anything to sell
I look forward to when you get your sketchbook up and ready!

Well, I'm never sure about that stuff. I think the difference may be in the printing. Those little photocopy books from kinkos might be viewed differently that a nice printed book that's going to be in book stores.
I know that James Jean used to sell real nice prints of the covers he did at DC and when they found out DC shut him down quick.
It's probably a situation were if you ask it's certainly "NO", but if you just do it they may never find out and you can get away with it for years. I honestly don't know.
I'll have to do some checking, but cause my sketchbook could be twice as big if I can put all that stuff in.

Hmmm. I think it's an issue of making photocopies at Kinkos as opposed to making anything that has the air of legitimacy (ex: giclee prints, printed books etc.)
They probably wouldn't have a double-standard based on favoritism- that could land them a lawsuit quick-fast-and in a hurry.
But what do I know...

Right definitely. It's funny that someone like James Jean would be shut down when someone like Adam Hughes makes a killing with all his prints. It's a mixture between the companies looking the other way as much as it's frowned upon.
