Description In my story The Wish Bringer there are people called 'Gem Forgers' who mine for precious gems and enhance their magical properties. This is how I imagine how one of the rooms looked like. (Past tense ;D)

This actually started of as a super, rough sketch that I did on the train from Rome to Paris that I later polished up. I think I have the scan of it somewhere, but I can't find it.

Drawn using graphite and watercolours on B4 sized illustration card, September 2013

The myriad of colors are amazing! I like how you did a full background traditionally! I would probably have died a thousand times trying to do half of it! Amazing work! clap:Β

I really like how much detail you used in this picture, but in some places I feel like some of the smaller details are lost. I think maybe by going over some of the outlines that got a little 'lost' in all the color will help bring them in the picture more.

I actually did that (you should have seen it before I went over the lines), but I get your point. Β Every time I added a glaze such as the glow from the candles the line work got smudged, but I think it would have been to pronounced to use pen, so I stuck with pencil for this one.

All those details, it looks very nice ! *0*

If you want to improve, I'd say you should now work on perspective (with is difficult, I know ;x; ) and maybe on colors : for exemple, I would have color the background a little darker than you did (on your drawing the desk on the front as the more or less the same color than the bakground and it can be a little confusing)
Well, I hope my comment will help !

Thanks, that's really helpful. Β I try that next time with the colours and perspective... ^^' it's a beast lol. Β I'll try to work on that too

Really great detailing work, I can't call anything in the picture a "background" since it all seems equally important in making this specific feeling of the forger's studio

There are some perspective issues with some of the furniture, but other than that I find this one really lovely

I don't really draw bg often, so I tried to make it look personal, like if someone lived there, with all the spilled jars and paper everywhere, so that the bg is almost like a character itself. Β Will try to work on perspective in the future.

Holy moly, wow. I love all that stuff! The glass bottles especially, I love how you did the transparency. The colours all look really nice together, they've got a warm organic sort of look even though there are a lot of colours there.
