Looks good so far, but again, what’s the point? I could be putting my own spin on the Disney characters or better yet, trying to develop my own characters, but instead I’ve just blatantly copied a bunch of clip art. It seems like such a pointless exercise. This is my least original "artwork" in forever.
3:28 PM This piece has me thinking about how people would occasionally predict I’d end up working at Disney one day. Now look where I am. [I'm not sure working at Disney was ever a goal of mine, but I'm about as far as you can get from that.] I suck.

Possibly because I saw Dumbo a week ago and Aladdin this weekend, I decided to finish up that Disney piece I started and abandoned back in November. The most challenging part turned out to be airbrushing the tourists out of the stock photo I'm using as a background.

Thanks, but actually, if you happened to do a Google image search, it would be pretty easy to find most of the references I used for this. In only a handful of cases did I get slightly creative and change anything, like the Genie's face and pose are from two different sources. But I can oftentimes spend days searching for potential references, downloading dozens and dozens of images in the process, all for one single drawing. This was relatively simple by comparison.

I actually recognize all of these characters, and I can name all but two of them, guess that's pretty reflective of my childhood. It's a really nice pic, and you really shouldn't be so down on yourself, you've got real talent as an artist.

Dave, you are waaaaay too hard on yourself. But you already know that, don't you? There's not much we can say -- well, that I can say -- to change your mind. Just know that we all love your art and feel lucky to know you. 
It's amazing to me that I personally know someone who can create such wonderful images. Yeah, I get what you're saying about being "original," but that's BS. Too many "artists" take other people's characters and do their own spin on them. What's really original is creating your own characters, making them real to your followers, so much so that when they laugh, we laugh ... and when they cry, we cry. Or laugh, depending on the context of the situation. I've seen you do that, my friend. That is real talent!

Thanks. While I didn't copy/paste that part of my journal, one of the things I did pat myself on the back about a little was the arrangement of the composition. To be fair to myself, that's part of the reason I ended up not changing much of anything from the clip art I Photoshopped together as a template; I had everything organized so precisely, if I started altering poses, etc., I ran the risk of messing it all up.
