Description
When I put up Rocky's updated design, I heard from a lot of people that his face wasn't very good. It was referred to a lot of people as being "too human" and even ugly. I'll admit, the face wasn't exactly the way I wanted it either. However, I've been working with his design to get it closer to what I was intending. I've still got to figure out how he'll look with shading though. Bear in mind, Rocky is a part-human hybrid, so while he's not supposed to look like a regular person with fur, some slightly human-like features will still be present. At the very least, is it going in a better direction? If you've got any suggestions, please let me know! There's a poll to make things easier: [link]

Hmm, considering the fact thats preciselly how I do the face of my fur, using perfectly human features save the nose and ears, it would be pretty much dense to say I dislike it. Rocket's new look gives him more humanity, thats obvious, in my point of view, making him more anime-like and closer to our view of a real-life fur, something a few artists try to do when making their furs (such as making the anatomy less and less exagerated by the time, bordering realism).
However, I must say that this new look kinda lost a bit of Rocky's personality. His uniques expressions are something that I'll surelly miss. This new look is quite blank compared to the old one, which had a wider grin and bigger eyes, two important elements to his personality. If you compare the expression he is making in your avatar and reproduce it with his new design, I don't think it would look so good as the old one. But if you really want to keep his new look, go ahead, its still really good ^^

I know what you mean about the loss of expressiveness. The thing about that is, it depends on how the facial expressions are handled. The expressions shown here are more relaxed so they may not be the best examples, but it's still possible to keep his essence despite the changes in facial anatomy. I accept your challenge!
It's really nice to know that someone sees and appreciates the direction I've been going! I've been trying to achieve a more realistically believable look to my art style but not everyone likes it so much. Just gotta make it work.

I see. Well, even animes like Bleach which uses minimun features manages to make'em very expressive when they want to xD I also think this new design would make it easier to make a version of him in 3D like your fallout avatars, since you will be able to work with a human skull.

His new face seems much more refined. I actually like both versions. The old one has lots of nostalgia value as I grew accustomed to seeing him that way but his new one looks nice too. The way I see it, it's like evolution at work. I do think I might be able to get a better opinion when I see a colored version of his new look one day but seriously, he looks great in my opinion. Still cute meets hunky as ever haha.

It's not bad, actually
I guess it's just personal tastes, your style is good, maybe the chin in the last pic is a bit too evident, but other than that, i don't see anything troublesome

I do notice he has more of a handsome look to him now though. The last wasn't bad at all but it was very much like Ratchet.
