Maybe they were lenses,
But I think you had ocean eyes-
It was hard to tell
Behind the cosmetic fakery;
Lashes struggling to flutter
Like seabirds after an oil spill,
Rose blush,
Powdery,
Flaking
As the far-to-cherry-red
Of your melting lipstick
Marred those overly-white teeth.
The straw thatch of your
Peroxide-drowned hair
Showing darker roots;
And I knew then, in those few moments
I would find nothing at all real
about you or within you.

its an interesting mix Β but the fake news often has a lot to do with people not checking facts.Β

lol! I will raise my hand here and say yes i do wear makeup myself and heels and in all fairness corsets as i am rather 'alternative' but at the same time i am not one of those women who believe in 'playing dumb' to get male attention , or faking interests to try get in with certain groups of persons.

This lends credibility to "cosmetic surgery" but Β on a daily basis of putting on a mask. How could anyone find a person there?
I think you're right. There is no person really 'at home' because they must think too little or too late to just be themselves.

sometimes people hide behind masks because they fear what people would think of the real them , but sometimes that person gets so lost and becomes the mask rather than being able to take it off.
I once tried to be something I was not (amusingly enough for a guy) and I remember looking in the mirror and it hitting me that it wasn't 'me' looking back so i let him go and managed to find myself. I wrote this after meeting someone a friend of a friend and it saddened me that there was nothing beyond the exterior show , I'm not saying by any means all cosmetically enhanced persons are shallow., but alas some are.
thankyou kindly for your comment and the of my work, I'[m usually a digital artist opposed to a writer so when i do dabble with words it means a lot to me when someone takes the time to read and comment.

sometimes people put on this mask and pretend they almost forget themselves in the meantime
