I have to admit, it's almost bittersweet to see him finally get tall. But in a way it's a relief to see him finally come to terms with it at the end of the manga even though by then he doesn't even notice he's Winry's height XD

during one of the episode, the brothers mentioned that edward's growth was probably stunted and that ed slept so much because he was sharing the same soul/blood as Alphonse. Basically, Edward was doing the growing for two bodies. So when Alphonse finally gets back into his own body, Al could do his own growing and Ed started legitly growing.
Or Ed just started drinking milk.Β
Hopefully that clears the confusion.
