Thanks! The motion lines are a screen tone and the effect on the bodies is motion blur in photoshop.

Awesome page! I'm glad it's finally picking up. I really like that flying pose for Herod in the top panel. A standard view, but well applied here.
I think one of the panels here would have been better served by panning the 'camera' out some, perhaps the second panel showing the distance between Herod and Gilead (viewing over Gilead's shoulder with Herod in the background perhaps). Then, with Herod upon Gilead in the next panel, the speed and impact of the flying tackle would have been greatly emphasized.
Though, I do like the way you drew Gilead in the center of the frame too...you can tell he's ready for anything, or so he thinks.

Thanks! I considered an over the shoulder view, but ultimately decided to give big G more face time since I kind of did that shot in the last panel of page 2.

And we're off! Great footnotes and new ideas! Kinda hard to see where Herod's head actually got tucked but I didn't notice that until I was leaving the page. Awesome progression. Your speed lines might have worked a tiny bit better had they been coming from Gilead's back and to the left in Herod's angled direction but I've seen them done all kinds of ways for good effect! Loving this segement Rod!

Ah, that actually presents a small problem as you'll see on the next page.
Herod's head is supposed to be directly to right of Gilead's (cape coincidentally placed to obscure it 
On the next page that would be clearly visible.... if I hadn't flipped the image!
Yeah, that's right! It looked better flipped so I flipped it.
And you had to blab the whole thing by blowing the lid off my "where's Herod's head scandal".
Well, I hope your happy...and no, I'm not drawing it again!

Yeah, Herod's head is kind of buried there. It did bother me a little, but by the time I ran into the flipped image issue on page 6 I thought "I can live with it".

He might even cross dimensions to look into it.

You know I had actually roughed out a sequence prior to my challenge. I figured you'd use Vector for this challenge if you were up for it at all, but you threw me with Herod. It's cool, though I finally have my ending.
