Description This is the world map of most of the places which are visited in the game Mario, Luigi, and Gary. I had to create this due to an ability Gary gains at the beginning of Chapter 6, which is where I am in the creation of the game.

Very nice, but what about Flower Fields and the Shiver Region? Flower Fields was to the west of Peach's castle (I think) and the Shiver Region (Shiver City, Shiver Snowfields, Starborn Valley, Shiver Mountain, and the Crystal Palace) was to the east of Shooting Star Summit.

Also, how well is RPG Maker XP able to imitate the gameplay of the Paper Mario battle system? I've been wanting to find a game engine that had the capability to implement a battle system akin to Paper Mario's or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

It's true on what you've said on the areas not being in the right place, but truth be told, it's more a spiritual successor than taking place in the exact same universe. I never really intended for the game to be exactly the same world...imagine how much of an edge metaknowledge would have. The real designers don't have any continuity in regards to creating these worlds either.

The battle system is different than Paper Mario's. The system is more of a Final Fantasy sort of deal, and there isn't action commands due to RPG Maker XP's code limitations outside of intricately knowing Ruby script. It took someone else's programming (I will be including their stuff in the credits) just to change the battle system from front view to side view. I've done all the battle animations and graphics myself and I think it looks very good, but as I said the whole game idea is a spiritual successor rather than an actual Paper Mario game.

This looks rather cool! I think I can recognize some places from the previous screenshots (Mushroom Kingdom to the North, right?). I am especially interested in that desert in the East... Do you get there by teleporting or is there an underground level (With obligatory mine cart ride, I hope)?

Also, which program did you made this in?Β

Yup, Toad Town and Peach's castle are to the north in the center, with the surrounding areas in their appropriate spots.Β That desert's actually just Dry Dry Desert from Paper Mario (though it won't look quite the same as from that game). You get there by travelling over Mount Rugged, just like the N64 game.Β

I created this diagram using Adobe Illustrator. Then I sliced up the parts into tilesets and stuck it into the RPG Maker XP game. It turned out better than I thought it would. Β
