This was my second attempt at manga fame...needless to say, I failed (though not miserably, but close enough!) This was my entry for the ::deep breath:: Second Annual Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga Competition. I worked hard on it, and lost a lot of sleep, forgot to eat, and had some headaches from eyestrain...and it was a lot of fun! (really! No sarcasm here )
I knew that I wanted to do a comic with these three characters (Ajax, Crow, and Minerva...named after figures in Greek mythology...well, except for Crow) and that I wanted there to be a little bit of fighting in it (I really wanted to do some impressive action scenes, but got a little intimidated ) but I was having trouble coming up with a villain. Then, one day as I was riding in the car on my way to Wal-Mart, listening to the radio, I hear this song, Spoonman by Soundgarden, and I get this idea.
I'm aware that this song is about this dude in Seattle who's known for his mad spoon-playing skills, but that wouldn't have made for much action in this comic.
So, anyway, as dumb as this comic might be, I still am really glad I did it.
