Description
I for once took some notes and stuff while sketching character Fredrick forHope this can be helpful and I know the last image is a bit of a time skip, but in all honesty the major work is in the earlier stages, for that it´s mostly render stuff and image effects(could make a tutorial for that too if anyone´s interested?)

What size should the canvas be?

depends, when just sketching you can keep it small then resize it once you know what composition you like etc, but my standard go to is around 2500*4500 and 300dpi, but it´s sort of unnecessary in most casesXD just don´t use a square canvas

awesome!! in the end practice makes all the difference, but hings like this of how to focus on underlining structure of the face compared to replicating the finished product right away was a great eyeopener to myself^^

Indeed! It's important to practice , but practice without knowing some stuff that it's there, even in the real life, won't get you that far.
The thing about the line wheight, mostly under the eye in the shadowy area, it's so important!
Again, thanks a lot for this

Thanks, I appreciate this. Especially about the base colors for skin (the general guidelines as I am trying to get more realism in my shading) and line weight.

I would be super interested in a filter tutorial! I have always wondered how people get the grainy texture that you seem to have!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Roiuky In reply to badazal [2019-02-05 16:29:43 +0000 UTC]
well for that particular texture just go to Filter-add noise (then i usually stay between 1.25-2) or filter-filter gallery-texture-grain (and use the slider until you find what you like)^_^
