Growing up in a vagabond family that was always on the move, Asa adopted an amiable and lighthearted personality that made it easy for him to befriend others. He is almost always seen with an unusually cheerful smile on his face, and is seemingly immune to all external negativity thrown his way. As an apprentice of magic, Asa holds high intelligence and is very perceptive to the world around him. However, he dislikes showing off his knowledge and will only do so when asked, or when he feels as if it is absolutely necessary. (Instead, he ops for devious offers of voodoo dolls and love potions to his peers, although none have actually agreed to receive anything from him---)

Asa's seemingly extroverted characteristics only extends to his outer shell. Because he never had the chance to befriend long-term acquaintances in the past, he never had the habit of and is reluctant to become attached to others. Even though he has no problem with helping when being requested to, he harbors very little care for non-family members beyond surface value, and prefers not to be involved unless it proves to be detrimental to any party.

Asa's work ethic fluctuates between tasks; if something appears to be too easy for him, he does not even want to bother to try. However, the more challenging a problem is, the more he feels motivated to solve it. While he is somewhat confident in his abilities, he becomes easily disheartened and critical on himself when the results do not align with his expectations.

History:
Asa was born in a snowy town to a single mother who always valued her career over family. After nursing her son for one month, she dropped him in the care of the grandparents and disappeared to her busy life of paperwork and success. Just like that, the traveling witch and jewelry merchant duo took Asa under their wing, journeying many corners of the world. With no other grandchildren of their own, the elderly couple spoiled the boy rotten. Despite their old age, both the husband and wife had the spirits of newly-weds and always playfully bickered about the trade their grandson should inherit. The grandmother would teach Asa the wonders of magic from basic healing enchantments to harmless mischievous curses to be cast on those who step out of line. To the woman's delight, while the boy was proficient at the art of jewelry making and refining, he was a natural at the practice of magic.

Their lifestyle of trading and traveling came to an end when Asa reached his late teens. While his grandmother's spirit was as youthful as ever, her old bones and frequent fatigue no longer supported the hardships of being constantly on the move. With the money they accumulated over the years, the couple purchased a modest house in the East and opened up a quaint little shop as a way to support themselves, finally settling down after decades of their vagabond lifestyle.

The next few years consisted of Asa diligently studying magic from books and nearby magicians in an attempt to lighten his grandmother's weakening state. However, his efforts proved to be fruitless, as her conditions improved very little. Despite this, he never lost sight of his goal - so when a letter came in the mail advertising a new town, Asa decided to take the chance. Perhaps there would be talented witches and wizard residing there whom he could study from. With a teary goodbye to his grandparents and hope in his heart, he boarded the train to Toffee Town, and the new life that awaits him.

Additional Info:
- Asa's slight obsession with healing spells and the occult comes from his wish to save his grandmother. Although he is fully aware that all humans will pass away at one point, he is not afraid to go great lengths to try to extend his grandmother's time as he deeply cares for her well-being.

- As a magician, Asa is very interested in those who share the common knowledge, and is not above creating "coincidental" meetings in order to meet them

- When he was a kid, Asa was taught by his grandmother to chase away those who bully him by threatening to practice voodoo on them or summoning an evil spirit. This is a habit that still continues to this day.

- Like a cat, he tends to bring weird gifts like animal bones to the people he likes.

- Has a habit of calling others a variation of their name, or a completely different name. It may or may not be on purpose. : )
