-Comments disabled 'cause some of you guys are just asses--Wow, over 600 faves!! Thanks guys!-
Simply stated. No matter how you put it, hunting is murder.
Think about it for a minute: You go out into somethings HOME, then shoot it.
Now, I'm not talking about the people who hunt animals and eat them, I'm talking about people who hunt animals for sport, and call it "fun". I mean, I doubt people eat cougar, coyote, wolf etc.
The reason I made this is because a kid at my school went with his friends and shot a whole bunch of squirrels, and chipmunks, TOOK PICTURES OF THE DEAD BODIES, then went to school and laughed about it. The kid was talking about how he killed two baby chipmunks. The worst part is, is that his excuse was that "he felt like it"
Please no flame, hate, or comments that will turn into arguments, I'm really sick of them.
I'm sorry if I offended you.
Feel free to use. Please fave if you do.

Also forgot to add that your classmate probably is just a sadistic little twit, not a hunter. Hopefully he'll grow out of it before he winds up doing that stuff to people.

Food is only one reason, sadly. The truth is that in some places, hunting is a necessary method of keeping the population of certain animals under control. It sounds cruel, yes, but a population that has overgrown its surroundings will become susceptible to a multitude of things, including starvation and disease. Not only do those cause slow and horrible deaths for the animals, they pose a risk to surrounding populations. Where I live, for instance, we had a problem with the local deer population not too long ago. There had been a decline in hunting, and before too long, we started seeing deer pop up that were really sick with some 'wasting' disease. The meat wasn't safe to eat, but the deer needed to be put down. I won't even get into the gore and bits you could see on the highway, either, but it was sad to see.
And before anyone says it, there are, unfortunately, situations where the whole 'let the natural predators deal with it' idea just doesn't work. For starters, your population in question might -be- one of the predatory animals in that environment, or your predator population has thinned. It could even be that your given area is suffering from an introduced species that has managed to find a good niche and has exploded in size, which is a serious problem.
I'm certainly not for someone going out and hunting, then taking pictures of some animal they mutilated in the woods, no. But am I against hunting? No, because it does serve a purpose when you have responsible hunters.

I agree, hunting IS murder. I live in Beaver Dam, NC and every freak on my street is a gun-carrying drunk who kills for fun. There's one loser who hunted just because he thought it would make him "cool" at the school near here. He got expelled for carrying a knife in school.

It really depends on how you see it.
Killing for the fun and sport of it? NO.
Killing for a reason, like meat for survival? Yes. If you disagree with this statement , you are telling me that all carnivorous animals are murderers.

Well if you NEED the food and don't have any way to get it otherwise, then it is murder. But carnivorous animals can't get food from grocery stores, which would not make them murderers.

I think grocery store chicken and meat is real murder. Taking what you NEED from the wild is not. The human race is becoming too dependant on money. They don't need to hunt for their own food anymore (unless living way out in the wild). So yeah.

I'll say that killing form the wild isn't murder when I see a human killing the animals without a gun, or an arrow.

So you would rather we killed so that they die painfully with our bare hands? dude, humans are too weak to do so anyway. A gunshot will kill a prey animal almost instantly if done properly. It is 10x less painful than a pack of wolves sinking their teeth into your legs, back, butt, and neck.
π: 0 β©: 1
Romtorum5ever In reply to dragonicwolf [2009-04-08 23:16:57 +0000 UTC]
Well humans are only weak we evolved into using our guns instead of a ore natural way. Most people don't shoot properly. And actually, most of the time the bullet does not kill the animal right away. But wolves hunt their prey naturally, and they can't get their food for them. My point is, we go out and kill animals that either 1) We won't eat anyway(other carnivores), or 2) wild animals who can't get grocery store food need more than we do. We're going into something elses territory and killing it, or it's food. That's not right. We don't rely on hunting anymore. We have farms and get food that way, only if someone CAN'T GET TO A GROCERY STORE, NO ONE needs to hunt other creature's food.

Keep in the conversation line ._. I was talking about those who kill because they need to survive, not for sport or for fun.
Wolves also go into another animals territory to kill it
And the animals we buy at the grocery store often lived a very inhumane life. Killing from the wild a widely abundant animal is less cruel.
Anyway... Honestly I am biased toward human beings too, and whish they did not exist =/ But being so made me learn about the other point of views as well, and now i am sharing them with you.

But most people don't need to hunt to survive, this stamp is aimed towards those who hunt for sport! As said in the comments.
But wolves do it naturally-- and because they have no other freaking reason to get food. Got that? Wolves can't buy their food like humans can.
They may be killed in an inhmane way, but that's no reason to say killing them in the wild is any better. Hutning in a way can be very very inhumane as well.

Ahh that sucks. Yeah most people where I live hunt too. I was told to go let our neighbors dog out because my neighbors were on vacation, and I went into their living room and saw a whole shit-load of animal heads on their walls. I got so pissed that I just left the house then ranetd to my mom who said that hunting is stupid.

But you have to kill animals! Not only to eat them. for example the fox, you cant eat it but you have to kill it because it do so much bad in the nature! One fox plunder many birdhomes on one spring.
Well think about it, do you wanna see one fox in the forrest or ten birds? One fox or ten hares?

People like us do NOT want to hunt animals (such as foxes) and we don't have to!
So don't wonder around looking for anti-hunters stuffs and tell us that we have to kill animals and you won't make us!
PS. It's not only you who haves a opinion, everybody has........

the reason foxes hunt animals is because they have to. Humans don't. Also humans take over foxes territory, so they either have to move and risk starvation or eat what the humans bring with them. foxes are beautiful and deserve to live.
Also, would you rather see one human, or well over 100,000 cows? Think of that. but, you don't kill humans do you?

It is true that you kill the fox when hunting, but thereβs a huge difference between killing and hunting. Hunting is done for a purpose. In Finland we hunt to keep the number of foxes on a certain level, there canβt be too many of them or else it will disturb the natural balance. Too many foxes means that more hares will be eaten, which means that e.g. the wolves have no food, which means that the number of wolves will decrease. And that, of course, would not be good.
The fox does not have many natural enemies, so somebody has to keep the number of the animal down. Hunting has very strict rules and regulations and the foxβs always got a chance to escape.
Killing on the other hand, is done for no good purpose and itβs illegal.

oh yeah, hunt the fox to give the wolves food, then hunt the wolves right? that's what humans do. Some people may hunt for food, but most for sport and 'just because'. it's wrong to kill anything
here's the definition for kill since you don't seem to understand it: to deprive of life : cause the death of
i don't know what kind of sick person like you enjoys to kill things, and take their lives, but it's wrong. ask any happy human if they want to be killed because we are overpopulating, eating other creatures, taking endangered species homes away, polluting the earth, and taking animal's territory and hunting grounds away. i guarantee they'd say no. you are a huge hypocrite, just like every other human that thinks it's OK to take creatures lives but devestating if you're life would be taken.
i guess you were brainwashed by some redneck hunter that killing, that murdering, is perfectly fine.

It seems to me you only have one argument you use again and again...
I think hunting for food is okay. I mean, it's a lot more animal friendly than buying the meat from a supermarket, since the meat there is massproduced and the animals live their short life jammed into a small cage, meant for two but used for fifteen.
This isn't about killing people, please stop combining them.
π: 0 β©: 1
Fantasy-luver In reply to Hannah-Sophie [2009-04-26 02:07:01 +0000 UTC]
and it seems you are only repeating as well.
i don't support killing anything personally, even indirectly by eating meat, which i don't because i'm a vegetarian.
and it does include humans. i don't support killings of any kind EVER, but i am saying that if you are killing animals do to overpopulation, you might as well do it to humans. the only reason i say this is to try to put it in a way your mind can grasp it, since you obviously have no remorse for taking a creatures life that has a family it may have to feed, or babies it may have to take care of.
And what's your excuse? it tastes good? it has protein? or it's overpopulating in it's small area it's fenced in due to humans? those are no reasons to take a life of anything. there is never an excuse to take a life, ever.
you must agree with this on human standards, but not animals. why don't animals mean just as much as humans to you? are they not worthy to live by your standards? are they not good enough to live because humans call them stupid and beat them and let them starve?
you are truly messed up.

Hannah-Sophie In reply to Fantasy-luver [2009-04-26 09:57:37 +0000 UTC]
There are hundreds of rules when it comes to hunting, especially in Finland. You can't go out into the forest and shoot everything that moves. For example, hunting is only allowed at specific times every year, you can NEVER shoot (for example) an moose with a baby, and you are only allowed to shoot a certain number off animals every year so that the population dosen't get too small. Today wild animals doesn't have any enemys exept from the human, so there is nothing that controls the populations. If hunting were to be banned, and the populations would get too big, that would result in that the animals would die in diseases that would spread fast because there would be too many animals in too small areas. And that is much more painful for the animal than to get shot.
And you should know that I'm defenetly not supporting poaching, I only support legal hunting.
However, what ever you say will not change my opinion, and I think that we should end this conversation. I'm very sorry that you have such a narrowminded view on the world.
