Description
I've inherited my father's old cameras. All of these are ones he or some other relative once used.Beautycord S
Beautycord cameras were built by Taiyōdō Kōki K.K in Japan starting in 1955 until 1957. The Beautycord cameras were a more modest version of the company's Beautyflex cameras.
These were knob-wind 6×6cm TLR (Twin Lens Reflex) cameras. It could use 120 or 620 film.
Beautycord cameras sold for a little over $30 in 1956 (around $340 in today's dollars).
I'm a little unclear about the power source, but this one has a Honeywell Tilt-A-Mite flashgun fitted to the camera's accessory shoe. These have a fan-fold reflector permitting compact storage. I don't know how old this one is, but Honeywell sold these beginning in the late 1950s. This one has a single use General Electric #5 flashbulb in it. The General Electric #5 flashbulb was a staple of the press corps in the late flashbulb era.
