Description
Texico Illinois, September 7th 2023.The grain elevator is now being used as a machine shed.
The railroad through the town was originally the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad (CEI), but now is the Union Pacific. There is no longer a siding along the tracks.
Texico is unincorporated, so the area considered to be Texico is the area once served by the Texico Post office. But the nucleus of the town is by the railroad crossing. This consists of the permanently closed train depot, the permanently closed grain elevator, a permanently closed general store, and a permanently closed post office.
