The Dragon House, Mt. Vernon, IL. January 1st 2018.I don't think the house has an official designation, but the locals call it the "Dragon House" because the current owners installed gates that have dragon sculptures on them.
The house was built in 1892 and was given to W. C. Arthurs as a wedding gift from his father-in-law David O. Settlemire. Settlemire was the founder and first president of Mt. Vernon Car Manufacturing Company.
W. C. Arthurs became the president of the company when Settlemire died in 1908.
