I think I've mentioned that Route 66 came through Williams. There are a lot of the old Route 66 landmarks still standing and still in business. That is partially due to the fact that Williams was one of the last towns to be bypassed by the new Interstate Highway. Also it didn't hurt that the town's location near the Grand Canyon still brings in tourists.

I'd have loved to taken the whole day to explore and photograph about two dozen vintage locations, a number of which predate 66. But we where soon to get picked up for the next phase of our trip and as I walked around trying to buy some snacks, I only had my phone.

Sure it's a tourist trap, but that is kind of the charm of the old highway. Merchants of all sorts setting up shop and trying to attract the attention of the passing travelers.
