Description
It's Merry~If you don't understand what's up with the title, look here [link]
I really wanted to draw a hobbit. And Merry's my favorite so naturally it's him, haha. I tried to draw how I imagined him when I read the books, it's hard since they lack character description in general. But I at least tried to keep true to hobbit description--brown skin, brown hair, short legs, round face and gut.
His pose is meant to look a bit lofty since he's a nobleman after all, but hopefully it reflects a little bit of his intelligent personality too.
I butchered the Westron for his name, but I prolly won't ever get to correcting it...

Im sorry for asking but i really cant figure it out... who's merry?
i know i know him because i watched all LotR but i just cant quite remember who he is... my best guess is that he is pipin's best friend, but that's cause i cant remember pipin's best friend's name either....
gosh, i need to watch all the movies again!

Ah, thanks so much for this comment! It's great to hear, since I was striving for a balance of charm, kindness, intelligence, and nobility. I couldn't be sure if I handled all of those aspects well, but from the feedback I'm getting, people seem to see it

Thank you! I'm glad everyone likes the pose, and I'm happy you touched on the shading and texture put into it. I also really wanted it to give off a lot of personality, a sort of whimsical loftiness, so it's awesome you got that from it

Awwww, I love this! Merry is awesome. <3 He looks very humble here, which I think is a good representation of his personality - intelligent, but not boasting. ^-^
As for the writing, there are a couple of things that I would like to point out, but it's really hard to do without being able to show you... >.< First off is that your use of vowels doesn't really fit into the commonly used modes - it's not wrong, per se, just a very uncommon usage. They'd normally be placed over the preceding or following consonant, depending on the mode. Second is a few of the letters you've chosen: specifically the 'nd' and 'mb' in 'Brandagamba.' These should be represented by the 'd' and 'b' tengwar, respectively, with the nasal tehtar to indicate the 'n' and 'm,' respectively.
Here's a website that explains it in depth, though it's slightly heavy reading... [link] (My first point is in section 'Modes,' and the second in 'Diacritics') Don't get me wrong, though, it's still perfectly readable just the way it is - I'm just a fanatic. >.<
ANYWAY, don't let my long-winded critique of your Tengwar make you think I don't LOVE this picture! <3 I fav'd it for a reason! XD

Ah, this is what I was hoping for actually! I knew I was no doubt doing it wrong, especially the "nd" and "mb" parts of the name since I was stringing a bunch consonants together, since all the reference I could find was very incomplete and undetailed (though admittedly I didn't spend too much time looking, haha). Hopefully with that site I can figure out how to fix it. Thanks!
And you worded it nicely, intelligent but not boasting. That's more of what I was going for, but I didn't know how to say it!
Again thanks! I'm glad you like it!

Aw, that's cute - and I think his personality came through in how you drew him as well: there's a bit of the noble/gentleman, but you can tell that this is someone who ultimately has a good heart.
And I just realized how much of a nerd I am as I actually got the reference with the title *shot*

Oh yeah, it has multiple languages. Tolkien was very interested in words, language, and history. He made languages for the men, dwarves, and the elves (and multiple languages for races too), though the elf language is the most extensive I think. He was insane
Thank you!

Yeeeah! I was at first gonna make it look like there was a wooden frame around the oval, but then it looked a lot better without it.
