I like to think Tails as frightened of Mighty at first, but since it's something Mighty's somewhat used to, he stays patient with the little fox til he eventually warms up fine.This uh sorta got outta control. Originally the background was flat white like the others, but I kinda wanted to make an indication that Mighty was on a hill, so I figured I'd make a hint of a background and. I really like drawing landscapes.
This's Hill Top Zone if you don't recognize! My favorite from Sonic 2 (not very orthodox I know LOL).

Mighty: Same as ever. Always going wherever I please. Still working on my temper though...
Sonic: Where's Ray?
Mighty: He decided to stay on Angel Island for a while. (sees Tails) Oh, hey there. You a new friend of Sonic?
Tails: (still a bit frightened) Um... Yeah?
Sonic: Tails, this is Mighty the Armadillo. He and I go way back.
Mighty: Yeah. Had it not been for Big Blue here, Ray might've been roboticized.
Sonic: Big Blue? Is that what they're calling me now? I like it!

I still believe Hill Top Zone to be a dormant Volcano due to the lava in some areas.

This is really neat! I love how you drew the rocks and the canyons . You always do a really good job at translating zones to 3D. Whenever I draw them, your art is what I aspire towards.

I can definitely tell you 2-3 years ago I did a lotta saving of photos and art I liked the colors of, stuck em in photoshop, and blew out the saturation til they looked how I wanted. Then I stole those colors haha! My biggest technique though is using the "Fade Brush" tool to shade. I like to shade with deep saturated pinks, blues, and purples, then use fade brush to tone the color back to a reasonable shade.
Not sure if you literally wanted to be advised, but there you go! I'm always happy to help with questions
